Commercial Description:
Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo' Series. Our Rye Bock is a pleasant departure from traditional bocks and rye beers. The use of malted rye in beer finds its origins in Bavaria. We here at Left Hand use a bottom fermenting lager yeast, paired with a hop profile of classic German bocks. Our Rye Bock gets a wonderful tangy spiciness from the rye, accompanied by dried cherry aromas in the nose. It is a beer of great flavor with a long, savory finish. The image of a goat has traditionally been the symbol of bock beers. It was customary to feed goats rye to make them potent in the spring. We love the marriage of these two ideas. Will our Rye Bock exacerbate your spring fever? Maybe not, but trying out old folklores never tasted so good.

Pour is a dark brown with a very large tan head. Aroma is of roasted nuts and obvious rye malt. Flavor is again mostly the rye but I also get a molasses and some dark fruit sweetness. A damn expensive beer for what it is but i was glad to get it on sale to give it a try.

Crushed with Jakebra. First of their "Big Mo" series I’ve tried. Nothing overwhelming here, but some pleasant warming awesomeness comes along with it. The rye does add a little spice kick to the sweetness.

Bottled Cloudy mahogany colour, rich airy head. Above medium bodied with soft well-rounded malt character. Mid sweet with distinct rye bread flavour. Rather low bitterness. A solid, warming beer with good balance.

0.75 l bottle. Dark amber color. The aroma has strong grainy rye scent with toffee, nuts and cocoa. Sweetish malty, toffeish, nutty, grainy and peppery flavor. Full bodied, a bit too carbonated. Softer and better with the yeast sediment. Nice to taste a beer with firm rye aroma and flavor.

75 cl bottle, thanks Bananamaniac for sharing this! Pours a redbrown color with a large foamy head. Brilliant. Aroma is malty, notes of toffee, dried fruits (plums). Really nice actually. Flavour is quite sweet, malty, notes of dried fruits ending with a decent bitterness. Good! Mouthfeel is very nice, very filling and smooth... I really love it. Overall a very, very nice bock from Left Hand!

Cloudy amber to dark amber color; medium head. The aroma is a bit grainy, malty, woody. Grainy caramel flavor, light residual sweetness, a bit nutty, maybe too yeasty. Reasonably strong bitterness. Confused.

Cloudy brown color. Good caramel beer, with cereal touch: simplistic aroma, but with a touch of vanilla and hops; semi-sweet flavor, with grainy malt too, correct bitterness and some alcohol. Quite good.

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown and hazy with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is a mix of caramel, hops and rye malt. Smooth flavoured with hops and a light caramel sweetness and to a nice rye flavoured base body. Easy breadish finish with a light uplifting fruity accent from the hops.7-3-8-3-16=3.7

From bottle, blind #8. Pours cloudy dark brown with a small white head. Cornish, grainy and slight spiced aroma. Mild spiced, honey herbal yet also rather dry flavoured. Bitter and slight spiced finish. Roasted, bitter and slight spiced finish, again lasting dry impression into the far finish.7-3-7-3-15=3.5
