Commercial Description:
Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo' Series. Our Rye Bock is a pleasant departure from traditional bocks and rye beers. The use of malted rye in beer finds its origins in Bavaria. We here at Left Hand use a bottom fermenting lager yeast, paired with a hop profile of classic German bocks. Our Rye Bock gets a wonderful tangy spiciness from the rye, accompanied by dried cherry aromas in the nose. It is a beer of great flavor with a long, savory finish. The image of a goat has traditionally been the symbol of bock beers. It was customary to feed goats rye to make them potent in the spring. We love the marriage of these two ideas. Will our Rye Bock exacerbate your spring fever? Maybe not, but trying out old folklores never tasted so good.

750 ml bottle - Pours a hazy brown color with a large off white head. Aroma is toasted malt. Flavor is toasted malt and light esters. Medium body. A decent beer but one I will probably not buy again.

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown and hazy with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is a mix of caramel, hops and rye malt. Smooth flavoured with hops and a light caramel sweetness and to a nice rye flavoured base body. Easy breadish finish with a light uplifting fruity accent from the hops.

On tap at Taco Mac located in Kennesaw, GA on Chastain Road (Chastaino Mac). Appearance: Clear, dark chestnut brown body with a small, white head. Smell: Aroma of toasty caramel, chocolate, cherries, and golden raisins. Taste: Rich medley of chocolate, burnt caramel, and fruit flavors upfront with a medium amount of sweetness. The fruitiness subsides, allowing a touch of alcohol to take its place. Hint of Slight encroaching spiciness from the rye grains and hops. Warming, long finish with all of the flavors simply not wanting to let go and say "goodbye". Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: I’d had one of the original bottles back in the day and, well, didn’t like it one bit. This, however, is much better.

Honey and malt aroma, slightly tannic, slightly floral. Misty, tea-colored with a thin ringing head. Clear, sweet, lightly bitter, a graham cracker maltiness. Medium body, bitter and twangy on the front of the tongue. Medium -long bitter finish. Good and interesting.

750 I bought a ways back at the Vienna Virginia Whole Foods. That cork was a total bitch to get out. Pours orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is smoky and malty with notes of rye. Taste has some more smoke in it with some nice rye notes, tasty brew.
