Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Even though it is not to style I like the hoppiness in this beer. Pours amber with a medium head. Malty aroma. Taste is initially malty but then the hops come through.

Had this one bottled in a mix pack from World Market in St. Charles, Illinois, thanks Mom and Dad! Deep reddish-brown pour with a frothy tan head, nutty nose, balanced flavor. This is a highly quaffable brew.

Slightly more hoppy than I would expect from the style, althou8gh the serving temperature was colder than it should be. Malt sweetness is nice..

(from notes) ESB from Lefthand. Medium amber color, think off white head. Smooth toasted malts, crisp floral hop notes. A tad hoppier than usual for an ESB, but nothing IPA-ish. Quality session brew.

This beer poured an amber body with a distinct caramel malts aroma. Very little head and very little lacing. smooth, light body with a soft touch of hops.

There’s nothing offensive about this beer, so they must have decent quality control at the brewery. BUT, it’s bland as heck, even after letting it "warm up." There’s nothing that stands out about it at all. It’s certainly a beer I could drink all day, which is appropriate for the style, but c’mon... If it was like $6 for a six pack it would be a go-to "dumb" beer, but it’s not worth the $8.99 I paid. It tries to be like Bass (which would be a much better choice), but ends up tasting like a high-quality Miller Lite.

A very smooth drink with sweet malt and a hint of honey. Not too hoppy, and a very clean finish.

Hazy amber with fair, creamy beige head / Nose of malt, citrus, and brown sugar / Light to medium body, a touch of sweetness, with substantial malts and dry hops imparting some heft and creaminess to the body and dry finish / Flavors of sour malt, grapefruit, brown sugar, toast, and dry hops / Very nice. A session beer if there ever was one.
