Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Hazy amber going toward orange. Tight honey yellow head. Aroma of an IPA. Head retained and laced all the way down. Bitter, with caramel malts. Low alcohol. This is the biggest tasting small beer I’ve ever had. Flavorful character. Light a maibock with a lot of hops added. Slight conditioning sting; but not bloating. Thin mouthfeel. Leaves a resinous palate. Solid brew.

Bottled. Copper colour, big frothy head. Tea-like hops in aroma. Rounded mouthfeel, with wood, teabags and bit dry with a touch of toffee lurking. Flavouring hops were added generously. Very American.

Pours a hazy orange colour with a small fizzy off white head. Aroma of sweet malts and grapefruit hops. Initial taste is citrus hops with a very thin body. Slight hops and malts on the palate that is weak. Some head retention.

Slight caramel and floral aroma notes. Nice copper color and great head retention. A good hop balance with a decent amount of mouthfeel, however it may benefit from more body.

I enjoyed this beer. Amber appearance with no head. Strong sweet caramel aroma, malty caramel flavor, doesn’t sound too special but very enjoyable.
