| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 15, 2007 Updated: Apr 3, 2007Slight haziness in an orange pour, good retention of the white head. When it does begin to recede it leaves lacing that looks like it has bullet holes in it. Aroma is of English pale malt and a light dose of caramel malt. Also notes of grassy hops, slight mustard seed. Ingredients smell very fresh, more of an English tinge than I’d have guessed. Flavor time. Honeyed malts and pervasive carbonation lead the way, not so English. Now the bold American hops make me take their notice. Sweet in mid-palate, drying substantially in the finish. Syrupy mouthfeel towards the end as well. Pretty good and somewhat quaffable. Too many high alpha hops for an ESB. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours light amber with a small white head. Light grassy, floral, and roasty malt aroma. Flavor is a bit watery, but there is still a nice hop character and roasty malt notes. Palate is light/medium, resiny hops, watery, and a bit of roasty nutty malt. Not bad, just not a whole lot going on. Could certainly drink a bunch of these though. paulmetzger (152), Pocatello, Idaho, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Quite red amber very clear with plenty of carbonation. Aroma is most noticeably grapefruit and other citrus. Just a hint of sweet fruits. Starts fairly dry, there’s a nice hop bite, and then finishes smooth and only a little sweet. Slightly metallic. A remarkably drinkable ale. thefederalist (226), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours amber with a nice head. Aroma is malty and grassy. Flavor is nutty and a little funk from one of the hops. I am beginning to think that there is a particular hop variety that I am not fond of because this flavor appears in many beers. Otherwise a nice, drinkable ESB. Tranquillity (1167), Espoo, Finland
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 12, 2007 Weird aroma. Sweet brea-yeast flavour, some perfume. Medium-brown colour, small white head which disappears. Nice sweet taste, short bitterness. After a while it gets boring and too sweet. sayravai (3733), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 11, 2007 (Bottled) Quite clear, darkish amber color with a smallish-medium head. Mild, berry-winous aroma. Sweetish berry flavor. Medium-bodied palate with smooth carbonation. A quite modest brew. I had a nice rating of this one, but it got lost, thanks to my Nokia E70, and had to rewrite the whole thing. Oh well... kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2007 This beer has gotten me into ESBs. Extremely well balanced beer. Malt and hops are both present. Starts out with sweet toasty malts and ends in a light hoppy bite.
