| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Cloudy mahogany lager with a mid-sized, off-white head. The aroma wafts notes of dark fruits and malts. Wonderful smoke, but not overbearing. Medium to full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Well-balanced flavor. Smoke and sweet, dark malts with only hints of bitterness. Caramel, raisins and smoked ham. Finishes smoky and bittersweet. Thanks go out to mgumby10 for sharing this bottle of world class beer! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2008 I liked this better then the Smoke Jumper. More balanced smokieness, and it seemed to lend itself better to a bock, rather then a porter. The smokiness along with the sweetness of the dopplebock was a fine mix. Tasted like smoked, maple bacon. Not for everyone, but i think its tasty. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Pours a murky dark brownish maroon, with a pretty thick, well-retained beige head. Nice lacing and retention. Aroma is of campfire smoke, dark sweet malts, and dark fruits. Not overpowering smoke, the other aromas showed through nicely. The flavor had of course a good amount of smoke in it as well, but the dopplebock characters still were formidable. Sweet caramel, grapes and raisins, with smoky overtones made up its identity. Liked the balance here, I think they did a good job with this. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA
