| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Thanks skyview. 2007 vintage. The aroma is apple wood smoked bacon. Absolutely sick aroma. The beer pours to a deep murky brown body with a nice white head. The flavor is rich sweet apple wood/beechwood smoked malts. The palate is smoked, medium bodied and has a nice texture. Amazing smoked beer. rickgordon (3300), Göteborg, Sweden

Muddy dark brown colour with big cottony head. Sweet malty flavour with dominating smoke, plus a notable touch of caramel. Clearly smoked malt here, which is very different for a doppelbock, nevertheless very interesting. Flavour is dominated by smoke and sweet maltiness, here is bit more balance. Maltiness is solid as it ought to be. At 17 IBU, this is, apart from the smokiness, a decent interpretation of a doppelbock. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2008 750 bottle thanks to Holdenn. Body is brown with large white head. Aroma is large smoked meat and medium slight sweet. Flavor is a lot of smoke that balances very well with big malty body. A nice full body also compliments the smoke. Nice all around, especially if you like smoked beers. Thanks again Matt! holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2008 750 ml from Sam’s Wine and Spirits. Pours brown with orange hints and a tall white head. Nose is really smoky. Smoked meat especially ham. Smoked flavors are on top of the lightly sweet malts. Meaty flavors again dominate the flavor with a little beechwood and toasted malts. Flavors aren’t as well balanced as the nose, but tasty still. As alex said what this beer really needs is a bacon garnish. drewbeerme (2282), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2008 On tap; murky brown with smallish white head. Aroma of smoke, meat and caramel. Flavor is a nice combination of smoked wood, smoked meats, and some sweet malty characteristics. Some caramel as well. Really enjoyed it, especially since I didn’t have to buy a bomber of it. radagast83 (1302), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 30, 2007 750 bottle. I just don’t know about this beer. I figured it would be pretty tastly, but on it’s own, I don’t think there is any way I can enjoy this. Aroma is smoky, and I mean smoky. Flavor is akin to liquid smoke, smoked bacon, dry-rub bar-b-que, and smoky beef jerky. Perhaps with a meal of sorts from the above listed items would have made this beer tollerable but on a (near) empty stomach it is far too much. Dickinsonbeer (3490), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Wooo yeah!! THanks Hophead75 for bringing this great smoked beer. Damn this was nice and smokey. Pours a nice deep woody brown, deep amber, with a fluffy tight off beige head- sticky and good lace. Aroma is tons of bamberg- weyerban rauchmalt- just tons of beechwood smokiness- light campfire and lots of smoked meats and smoked salmon. Flavor is light sweet malts with some toastiness and tons more smoke with a clean smooth finish. This was almost as good as Schlenkerla!
