My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of ucusty. Pours a hazy orange-brown with an average size foamy off-white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of smoke, of course, along with plenty of caramel malt, some floral hops and toffee. Flavour of toasted caramel malt, floral hops, toffee and just the right amount of smoke. Dry finish. Average to medium bodied. Great stuff, the smoke is very well balanced and is an example of how to do it right. Fantastic.

2008-05-01. Hazy brown body, modest off white head (3+). Moderate aroma has a smoke character that reminds me of lingering campfire smoke on someones clothing or tent, rather than a fresh from the source smoke. (6+) Smoke is of moderate strength in the flavour, but remains the dominant character to me. Pleasant malty base struggles for attention, and is probably quite nice on its own. Average plus palate. Not bad for a smoked beer, but as someone who does not care for smoke it ends up feeling like it negated an otherwise serviceable malty beer Bottle, 2007 Vintage, shared by Blankboy

Bottle (750ml). Shared by blankboy with GregClow, jerc and tupalev. 2007 vintage. Hazy brick-red pour, smallish creamy-foamy off-white head (3+). Somewhat funky stale campfire/peaty water/iodine aroma, very malty, a little lactic - but mostly smoke character. Medium roast malt taste, spruce smoke with Islay earthiness, tart fruit and floral hop bitterness - nicely balanced. Average slick body, midly carbonated and astringent, fairly long finish but not much aftertaste - simply well made and easy to drink.

2007 750 ml bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy light brown color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma and flavor is smoked malt. Finish seems a little thin and a tad dry. Overall, a pretty good beer. Just needs a little more body.

Poured from a 750-ml bottle a medium brown color with an off-white head. Immediately the smoked flavor came through. First taste was of sweet caramel malt, but a smoked bacon flavor quickly followed. This beer did have a nice smooth finish.

Courtesy DragonStout. Even brown color, very little light white head. Moderate smoked sausage aroma, some meaty malts. Light on the palate. Very basic taste, lacks any real distinct dopplebock character, it just has a general light spicy sweetness. Decent, but kind of indistinct.

20080118 750ml bottle shared with dmac. Sweet stuff but not overly so. Mild but pervasive smoke. Bit thin on the finish with a punch of alcohol. Surprisingly good if perhaps unrefined.

Hazy golden-brown colour. Rich smokey nose with sweet caramelly malts. Rich, lingering smokiness with caramelly almost toffeeish malts. Clean, fresh smoke and big malt background. Slight alcoholic dryness in the finish.
