Commercial Description:
If you've been reading our newsletters, brewer Ro Guenzel gave you a flavor last month of what it took to brew this smoked Imperial Porter (singed hair, smoke in the eyes, sunburn, etc.) - all a labor of love. Available in beautiful 750mL bottles. The National Smokejumpers Association has made Smokejumper the "Official Beer" of their organization. So, here's the smoke in your glass, not in the woods.

Editor's note: this beer is described as 9.2% on the brewery website, but there are two sets of bottles on the market, labeled as both 9.2% and 10.5%. Left Hand has since had this beer lab-tested; the correct amount is actually 9.8%.

Poured at Jupiter brewfest. Finally I get to try this beer! Black pour with a tan head. Aroma has some great smoke, dark malts and woodsy notes. Flavor hits wtih smoke, but it isn’t overdone. It is prominent, but yo gte beer flavor, fruity flavors and more that allowed this beer to really shine.

A very large light brown head topped a nearly perfectly black body. The aroma was decently smoked with some fruit wood and biscuits. There is a little bit of caramel character. The taste has some lightly smoked pancakes and hints of caramel. The woody finish shares itself with some light peach candy. This is nicely done and relatively subtly smoked.

Pour is a pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is smoke with some meatyness. Flavor is again smoke with some bacon and roasted ham. I’m not a fan of smoked beers but they did hit the mark on the head with this one. But this is another beer that should not be in a 22 bottle as you could only take a small sample in a sitting.

Color is a solid black with good carbonation and a big thick tight tan head. Aroma is deep and smoky. Taste is rich and smoky. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a crisp sharp feel. Finish comes in sweet with a rich feel then a big bold smoke taste with deep roasted coffee flavors and a touch of bitterness. After taste is a lingering smoke taste with a hint of alcohol. This is a tasty and complex brew, the palate is a bit sharp at first but seems to smooth out as you drink it.

The aroma is as billed with lots of smoke and malt but nothing else. The appearance is almost black (brown) with a nice tan head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall its exactly what most lovers of smoke want but I dont like smoke beer.

Intense smoke reminds me of hazelnut smoked cheese. Dark brown, almost oily with a sandy head. Loads of smoke, one sided and covers up any subtlety, but great smoke flavor.

Very dark pour with a nice bit of beige head. Medium smokey aroma. Rich malt flavor up front with a lingering, elegant smokey aftertaste. Just the right amount of smoke.
