EDIT: I rated this two years ago when it was last out, and admittedly was farily new to smoke beers. This 2008 version is F’in Good and smokey as all get out! Kick ass beer! Going to buy several more bottles on monday! nice smoked brew. not the best iv’e had but respectable. Nice smoked salmon and maple bacon aroma. good cloudy color. needs a little more smoke to be great. It was really smooth for 10 percent though. will try again!

750 ml bomber. Corked and caged. Pours a deep, deep brown. Appears black until you hold it up to the light. Small off white head with no lace to speak of. Nose is smoky (duh), with roasted malt and bakers chocolate. Dry mouthfeel with low carbonation. Taste is same as nose & I’ll agree with the majority of other raters in saying that the smoke was not overwhelming. Very good brew.

750 bomber courtesy of Maniac. Coffee, toffee and smoke dominate aroma. Color is very dark almost black with almost no head. Raisin and rum soaked fruit with roast and smoked malt flavors.Noteable hop bitterness and smoke in the finish. Medium body mouthfeel with moderate astringent bitterness. Well smoked and could easilly have been an Imperial Stout if it wasn’t so dry. This one would go well with some BBQ.

Pour is black with a huge brown head...smell is richly roasty and darkly smokey...taste is thickly smoking throughout, with lots of richly roasty chocolate flavors...but some stupid piney hops come in during the finish that just wreck everything...

750 ml bottle 2006 vintage corked and caged, from a trade with hogtownharry. pours pitch black with a nice tan head. aromas are out of this world. mellow chocolate, chared oak barrel with sweet malts. this brew has the most complex aromas ive ever had. every waff shows a new level of goodness. flavours are equally impressive. beautiful sweet malts with chocolate and caramel. some bitterness kicks in to level it all out and then you get the smoke. oh man this is insanely good stuff! ill be sipping and savouring this one all night. oh my god i want more of this. its stupid good!

Awesome porter from Left Hand! Very dark, rich, and smoky with hints of chocolate and coffee... The smoke wasn’t overpowering which was nice. A sipper that’s damn tasty!

Bottle from da east coast beer pimp, Immy. Thank you kind sir! The pour was ultra dark brown with slighter lighter hints trying to eek through. A compact head, tan to brown in color, settled on top but failed to provide much in terms of lacing. The aroma was rich smoked peat, light chocolate, roasted malt. The flavor wasn’t dominated by the smoke, rather complemented by it. The smoke mixed with rich roasted malt and softer chocolate quite well. Nice mouthfeel.
