Flavor is smoked wood, dried meats, and dark chocolate. Actually fairly successful in pulling off this style. Body is medium, which in this case is ideal, since a full body with these flavors would make the whole thing too weighty. Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 30, 2009 After finding out that this beer won a gold medal at this year’s (09) GABF, I just had to try it. And it is worthy, IMO. SmokeJumper pours dark, with a lofty, light tan head. The beer has a bold smokiness, but it’s not overpowering. Malts oozed with dark chocolate, peat, treacle and bread crust. Roasty-toasty aromas, along with an element of campfire, followed. Defreni (1006), Frederiksberg, Denmark
JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Deep black pour with a thick, sticky dark brown head. The nose is lovely. Rich, sweet dark malts. Deep cocoa, coffee, and toffee along with a nice bitter chocolate character late. Also has a lovely soft smokiness over this dark maltiness. The palate is rich and silky but with a bit of ashiness that dries it out a bit on the back. It’s sweet but there is a dried leathery character that gives it a nice complexity. Count me a fan of this. glennmastrange (857), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of dark bread and toasted, light resin and leather for the hops and yeast, with background notes of smoke, charcoal and cola. Head is small, frothy, light brown, with no lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is black. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, watery with a lively carbonation. This is definitely the boldest and yet most easy drinking Smoked I’ve had. Ygberg (104), Sweden

The flavor is bitter and smokey with hints of coffe and vanilla. A very nice beer with a sudle smokey taste.
