| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Poured a dark brown / red color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked wood, char, sweet chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste of chocolate, with roasted malts, and a large, dry, smoked wood taste, almost a bit salty, with bitter hops, and a fair amount of alcohol in the finish. 5000 (2553), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Bottle: Deep brown, moderate to large light brown head, fairly sticky lacing.   Huge smoked nose, campfire, charred wood, and
more smokiness.   Getting a little alcohol too.   Subtle porter underneath the heaps of smoked malts, campfire, ash, and charred
wood.   Has a slight bit of bacon to it as well.   Has a subtle milk sweetness to it, some roasted malts, quite smooth.   Clean
finish.   Moderate to full bodied, smooth mouthfeel.   Was a little difficult when it was colder, but as it warms it seems to mellow
a bit.   Enjoyable, even if a bit over the top in regards to its smokiness.   I can appreciate this one even tho the style doesn’t
do much for me.   Thanks Nick for the bottles!

The aroma is very bacony and pleasantly smokey, cocoa, and heavily roasted. Very nice integrated flavour profile. starts out chocolatey and tastefully smokey. Interestingly enough it never becomes overpowering. Some chewy resin is evident along with the roasty malts.

Pours a very dark brown with a large lasting fluffy beige head. Aroma is big time bacon baby! Oh yeah, that smells mighty fine! Lots of roasted malt and smokey bacon along with some chocolate and herbal hops. Wonderful flavour of roasted malt with lots of smoke, some alcohol, herbal hops and chocolate. Dry finish. Hides the alcohol quite well. Medium to full bodied. Friggin’ awesome, I loved it! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Stunning smoke aroma - beer breaks through too - some roast and malt but wow - smoked bacon yet outdoors like campfire smoke as well - fantastic. Very very dark brown, thick frothy beige head. taste is excellent - rich malt, lots of smoke, some bitterness from hops? alcohol? other? Complex layered levels of smoke here - great contemplative stuff. Powerful and not for those afraid of smoke - truly stunning. Thanks for sharing Harry!
