Commercial Description:
If you've been reading our newsletters, brewer Ro Guenzel gave you a flavor last month of what it took to brew this smoked Imperial Porter (singed hair, smoke in the eyes, sunburn, etc.) - all a labor of love. Available in beautiful 750mL bottles. The National Smokejumpers Association has made Smokejumper the "Official Beer" of their organization. So, here's the smoke in your glass, not in the woods.

Editor's note: this beer is described as 9.2% on the brewery website, but there are two sets of bottles on the market, labeled as both 9.2% and 10.5%. Left Hand has since had this beer lab-tested; the correct amount is actually 9.8%.

Draft at Redlight. Hides the alcohol well. Smoked ham nose. Flavors are more malty with a nice smoke presence. Good smoked beer.

Bottle thanks to RCL? Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is big with smoked meat! Wow! Taste is smoked meat, chocolate and peat malt. Very tasty! Medium body with dry finish.

Bomber from Ron’s. Pours onyx with 3-finger fluffy brown head...very brown head. Nose is dark malt, cacao, dark choc, rauchy peaty licorice. Tastes rich, complex, with heavy dark malt, solid peaty, cacao, and smoked earthy peaty malty notes throughout. The rauchiness here is subtle, not like Aecht, but more than most. Another great example of a favorite style of mine, whether you call this a rauch or an impy porter.

Nice bambergy smokeyness with a great load of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, liqourice, truffels and sweet fruity malty goodness underneath. We are talking both in the nose and in the flavour. The body is rather slick, medium to full with low carbonation. The beer finishes with a nice caramell and hop touch alongside lingering smoke. Truly a good beer with a very complete flavour profile.

On tap at Jerry’s. Jet black color, foamy latte head. Aroma true to style w/ restrained coffee, bitter chocolate, smoke, chicory, citrus and raisins as it warms up. Flavors of smoke, chicory, bittersweet chocolate and on the downside, strong soapy undertones. Very balanced, starts off sweet and malty and delivers a quick hops bite at the end w/ a smirk. Hides abv well. Medium body, finishing long and dry. Very nice, but for the soap.
