tbag5557 (14), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA May 1, 2008 Second time trying....better the second time. Maybe I had less expectation. Deep Amber color, very spicy, decent nose, almost like a candy spruce tree. Honestly the best thing about the beer may be the label....not bad but definitely not great. roebuck (44), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 13, 2008 Updated: Apr 14, 2008Over all I’m told from everyone I shared this with how great it is. Strong clove aroma and flavor to this bad boy. Strong spice tones over all. Not my thing, but every at the session seemed to really dig it. CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Mar 30, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber color with heavy, soapy head. Aroma is very bitter with notes of star anise. Very little lacing. String star anise taste with overbearing nutmeg finish. Not a big fan of this one. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA Mar 22, 2008 Updated: Mar 25, 2008Bottled, sampled in Steamboat Springs, CO. I thought this would be a nice session ale of sorts, as denoted by the label description. I was left disappointed to say the least. Hazy brown pour, some light brown head too. Fruity aroma of ginger, clove and honey. Taste is less impressive, way too cloyingly sweet with the spices used. Dry finish. Ended up as a drainpour. Blechh. scrizzz (1250), kirkland, Washington, USA Mar 20, 2008 incredibly dense aroma of spice cake, cinnamon and nutmeg, hints of mountain blueberries. clear dark brown. more heavy sweetness on the sip, cloying on its own Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Mar 8, 2008 Courtesy of Degarth. Pours clear amber with deep copper edges and off white head. The aroma is full with dark fruity esters as well as a nice layer of spice containing ginger, cinnamon, cloves and all spice. I also get a mild malt, honey and caramel sweetness. It has an aggressively bold flavor with malt and caramel swirled honey sweetness followed by dark fruity esters. The load of spices enter about midway with ginger, cinnamon, cloves and all spice. The experience ends with remnants of the spice and caramel. I think the flavors are a little too bright and therefore I see room for improvement with age. mybestfriend (261), Gothenburg, Sweden Mar 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown colour with a tan head. Very malty and spicy on the nose. Orange, ginger and winter spices. Flavour is quite sweet with loads of winter spices - cardamom, ginger etc. Very christmasy! Some alcohol. A very spicey christmas brew. UofFkid (108), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 5, 2008 Tap. Dark pour with little head. Varying aromas, very pleasant. Offering wasn’t thin bodied which suprised me. I didn’t notice the spices that many other reviewers mention.
