rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 6, 2007 Bottled.
Clear dark brown colour. Cheese doodles, gingerbread and dill in aroma. Chocolatey backbone in flavour with soft mouthfeel and pretty much hops. Long flavour and medium-full bodied. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 29, 2007 XXXmas Ale: Pours a cloudy brown color with a medium sized, white head. The aroma on this is extraordinary. Has a huge gingerbread scent with nutmeg, cinnamon, and wassle. Decent mouth feel overall. The flavor is dead on with the aroma, again big gingerbread flavor with some cinnamon and other spices. The malt is present but is overpowered by the other flavors. Drank this on a hot night while playing volleyball and it was great, I can only imagine how it would be on a cold winter’s night. Exceptional. Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Jun 13, 2007 Finally getting around to killin this bomber. Somehow ended up in the back of the cellarette. Amber brew, large tan foamy head, very corn syrup sweet malt aroma. Caramel and nutmeg notes, smells delicious, like dessert. Med body good malt and hops pairing Flavor is all-spice with a gentle warmth and dry spicy finish. Good warmth for a winter day but seeing how it is 98 degrees today I will drink inside. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jun 1, 2007 Spicy. Pours a deep, murky brown with a thin off-white head. Malty nose with a heavy dash of spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger. Ditto the flavor ... more spices than malt with a definite alcohol presence. warm. smooth and soothing. Not to mention spicy. tasty and rich, but certainly not something I’d want often. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA May 4, 2007 Pour is a amber with a small white head. Aroma is very nice. A good mix of orange, cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is not so much. First the liquid is very thick and cloying. Some orange peel is showing but everything else seems muted as the brrewer just wanted the spice to come out but nothing else. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Apr 24, 2007 22oz bottle-dark copper with a small fizzy off-white head. big spicy cinnamon and allspice nose with toasted ginger in there as well. flavors are sweet, nice spice and farily one-dimensional on the gingerbread cookie thing. body is nothing speical-went flat pretty quick. long spicy finish with carmel notes in there as well. really a boring spiced winter brew. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Apr 19, 2007 Why do I keep buying these holiday beers when I know they are going to taste like potpourri? Deep amber, slight head. Aroma of potpourri, flavor matches, with the usual suspects of cloves, nutmeg, a touch of cinnamon and a gingerbread body. Not bad mind you, it just isn’t my thing really. RAYBOY01 (1812), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 10, 2007 Updated: Apr 11, 2007This winter warmer is very nicely brewed. The nose is largely Christmas-type spicing...cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, etc. The pour is a very attractive mahogany with a rocky tan head that lingers. First taste reveals a very upfront Christmas spiciness...nutmeg and cinnamon, mainly, but also clove licorice, and ginger. There is a prolonged sweetness in the finish...moderately carbonated...that ends with a moderate alcohol kick. This is literally a Christmas cake in a glass...perfect for the holidays...or on April 10th after a winter storm watch has been issued for tonight and rush hour tomorrow.
