Aroma of fruit, spices, and slightly toasted chocolate malts. The flavor is spicey, semi-sweet, toasted caramel and chocolate malts, and small traces of bitter hops. Decent brew. nearbeer (1864), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Slightly foggy, ruby-tinged mahogany brew with a small but lasting head. Aroma of soured orange, caramel, nutmeg and cinnamon. Initial flavor is orange, nutmeg, cinnamon and toffee, turning to roasted pecan and walnut. Finish is drying with notes of whiskey sour, oak barrel, clove, peppery ginger, cocoa, and char. Medium body is almost smooth, but has a lot of spice-tingle and finishes dry. With a touch more body and a pinch less clove this would be a great brew. RAYBOY01 (1864), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The nose is largely Christmas-type spicing...cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, etc. The pour is a very attractive mahogany with a rocky tan head that lingers. First taste reveals a very upfront Christmas spiciness...nutmeg and cinnamon, mainly, but also clove licorice, and ginger. There is a prolonged sweetness in the finish...moderately carbonated...that ends with a moderate alcohol kick. This is literally a Christmas cake in a glass...perfect for the holidays...or on April 10th after a winter storm watch has been issued for tonight and rush hour tomorrow. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2009 22 oz. bottle, $4 at Sam’s before it became a Binny’s. Pours a deep mahogany brown, roils up a nice tan foamy head. Yes, a very spicy smell, starts with cinnamon-apple tart, nutmeg, and for a brief instance a bit of nose-cleansing wintergreen. Or I just imagined it. Yes, cardamon, to. Not an over done Belgian spice combo, but mainly a Christmas spice beer. Why change the name? Maybe because a Christmas beer might get marked down on Dec. 26. Taste is full of dark nutty malt and now I’m thinking about pumpkin pie spice, or maybe even mincemeat. Despite being a bit over spicy, it’s still a very drinkable beer, perhaps because the malt are quite smooth, hovering between a brown ale and a porter, and the alcohol is barely noticed. It turns out a bomber bottle was just enough, and usually I don’t need more than 12 ounces of a really spicy beer like this. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA

Smell is quite interesting and compex. Tons of different things to pick out. Graham crackers, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, cinnamon, and if you breathe deeply a little ketchup. Taste is somewhat similar to the smell, big on the nutmeg and some clove. Cinnamon, brown sugar, and various other spices are all quite noticeable. Finish is fairly smooth and delightful. I dug this brew. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

Sparse and spotty lacing. Musty malt aromas with a bit of hops and spice. A little earthy as well. Big spice, maybe cinnamon and nutmeg in the flavor. Malts back that up, though they are light. Creamy, spice filled palate, full bodied and finishes with a bit of cinnamon. Good winter. Thanks acrodizer!!! thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 4, 2007 Pour is a amber with a small white head. Aroma is very nice. A good mix of orange, cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is not so much. First the liquid is very thick and cloying. Some orange peel is showing but everything else seems muted as the brrewer just wanted the spice to come out but nothing else. Dorwart (1828), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Thin head of fine and dense bubbles. Light carbonation. Loads of spices in the aroma. Lots of ginger and cinnamon. Bit of juniper and some sweet malts. Color is a dark mahagony red. Lots more spices in the flavor but less than in the aroma. Juniper and sweet malty with a touch of honey. A nice holiday brew. Hides its alcohol pretty well. Finishes sweet and spicy. A decent brew.
