pilsnerrogge (1554), Finspång, Sweden Feb 19, 2008 Bottle Dark, reddish brown with disappearing head. Cinnamon, cardamom and liquorice aroma, maybe some chocolate as well. Many spices in the flavour, a bit too many. The taste of alcohol shows up in the finish. Never been a fan of spice beers, still isn’t.
unclemike (245), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours a murky brown, with a quickly dissipating light tan head. Smell is quite interesting and compex. Tons of different things to pick out. Graham crackers, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, cinnamon, and if you breathe deeply a little ketchup. Taste is somewhat similar to the smell, big on the nutmeg and some clove. Cinnamon, brown sugar, and various other spices are all quite noticeable. Finish is fairly smooth and delightful. I dug this brew Illini08 (504), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle, shared by barleyPops. Thanks! Definitely a good Christmas beer. We drank it in June though... Brown pour with a tan head. Basically as barleyPops describes. Strong clove and cinnamon spiciness with plenty of honey and molasses as well. The spice may have been a bit strong, but this was still a good one. barleyPops (1057), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2008 shared a bomber with illini08. medium dark brown with a decent tan head. aroma and flavor was molasses with strong spiciness of clove and cinnamon, along with some honey. the spices were a bit strong for my liking. phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2008 This beer pours a deep dark amber colour. Medium khaki head that leaves scattered lacing. Very enticing aroma of mixed spices, cloves, cinammon and honey. Mouthfeel is smooth, well balanced and full. Taste is very pleasent and a dance of sweet and spicey. Guinness4Duff (408), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jun 12, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber pour with a beige head. Sweet and spicy aroma and flavor. The spice really stands out in the flavor, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and a mild orange presence... really tastes like Christmas. Outstanding, even in June.
