Commercial Description:
In honor of the mighty St. Vrain River that lies due west of the brewery, we've named our latest release in our limited edition "Big Mo" series St. Vrain Tripel. The St. Vrain River originates in Rocky Mountain National Park, and flows through Longmont on its way east. Named after Ceran St. Vrain, an early settler of the valley who helped establish the first permanent trading post by white men in what is now Colorado. A reflection of this pioneering spirit can also be found in the ales of Belgium, where brewers, often monks, developed beers of distinctive character over the past 900 years. Simply admiring our hazy golden Belgian-style Tripel in your wide-rimmed glass doesn't even begin to reveal its complexity. The spicy aroma that streams upward with hints of wild flower honey and orange blossom is your first clue of the depth of St. Vrain Tripel. The sweetness from the malt makes itself known immediately, progressing to bittersweet honey and dried fruit flavors, and finishing out with the lingering earthiness from the Styrian Golding hops. The warming effect of the 9% ABV is your final indication that the initial simplicity masks St. Vrain's beautiful intricacy.

When I first tried this beer, I did not know who or where is was brewed. After tasting it, I assumed it was belgian born. After learning it’s its true origins, I was surprised. This american belgian manages to achieve the melody of caramel malty, yeasty fruit mix that is usually only found in true belgians. Worth a try, a solid tripel.

Tap. Golden color, no head. Being served too cold had a negative impact in fully enjoying this beer. It would produce no head. This would also impair most, if not all, of the hidden aromas. What was salvaged from this poor pour, were the golden sweetness aromas characterized in a Belgian-Style Abbey Tripel. Flavors were sweet as well. Medium bodied. Alcohol was present although not easily detected.

Cloudy light golden color with a tall somewhat creamy off white head. I keep thinking of baby aspirin every time I take a sniff. LIght honey and soft orange citric aromas. Some light spice and cranberry scents as well. Somewhat complex but certainly not that alluring. Light malt, weeds, dry spice and wild honey flavors. Neither real fruity nor spicy for my kind of triple.

hazy yellow with a cloud of debris, fine white head, big sweet spicy aroma, huge sweet candy malt flavor, lots of spicy esters, the esters really make the beer along with a big enough sweet body to back it up

Corked and caged. 2006 bottle conditioned. White head that was frothy and slightly fizzy, Virtually no lacing, floaties, hazy, visible carbonation, and a straw yellow hue. The nose was hoppy, sugary, apricot, spicy, coriander, and some honey notes. The flavor was sweet, lightly bitter, hoppy, fruity, spicy, sugary, ABV well hidden, and finishes dry. Mouthfeel was smooth and dry. Medium body. Good for the style, very quaffable and I would definitely drink this one again if the opportunity arises. Worthy of a try IMO.

(Bottle) Pours hazy yellow to golden. Sweet yeasty aroma with tones of violet, banana, clove, flowers, dough and cinnamon buns. Sweet doughy flavour with some notes of sweet fruits and subtle spices. Quit full maltiness. Lingering sweet aftertaste with notes of yeast, spices and flowers. Medium bodied.

This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very large sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent typically carbonated light yellow-orange colored body. The aroma was orange peel mild spice and malt hop. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt and hops. An OK brew just nothing special. Not much like a Tripel with a lot of yeast in the bottom making it very hazy at the last pour and it was missing the candy notes of most Tripels.

Hazy, golden with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has notes of malt, light fruit, light sweetness, light citrus and coriander and yeast. The flavour has the same notes and the citrus is mostly sweet types like tangerine and oranges. The body and personality could be stronger. 2393
