Bubbly, well, more gurgly, like the slime from Ghostbusters. Sweet, roasted and grainy aroma. Flavor is darkly malted, sweet and almost alcoholic... no doubt the rye has something to do with it, especially noticeable in the finish. Quite a different beer, points to Left Hand for originality. mcbackus (738), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

Aroma is very roasty some chocolate and very little to no rye. Some decent toffee like sweetness also no hops. Flavor is very smooth with a silky chocolate and a good roast chatacter that plays well with the drying rye. Overall a very drinkable beer KimJohansen (6802), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2009 Bottle. Fruity aroma. Clear dark brown colour, red shine. Small creamy tan head. Good roasted flavour, mild and creamy. It turns more hard roasted in the finish. Very creamy mouthfeel, must have lots of oats, or perhaps rye judgning from the name. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Dark brown pour, thick, off-white head - aroma of chocolate and black malts, with a strong, spicy rye presence - the flavor is quite bitter, with a considerable roasty character that compliments it quite well - the rye comes on strong through the middle, but then chocolate and vanilla bean sweetness pop up momentarily, only for the spicy rye to come back in the finish - I sure do like rye, though, so that’s not a problem for me. biznizness (934), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
