| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Bomber in trade with thebeersomm.. Nose is a gentle hard pulled light carmel malt. Full pour yeilds a black cylinder with a bit of brown peeking thru at the bottom of glass. A 3/4 inch thick tan head floats upon it all. Head settles quite slowly even thru a quaff or so. Delicate lacing is seemingly etched upon the glass since it stays there so long and does not droop. Body is Medium - . hops linger and shuffle feet with body while the rye appears during the second half and twist the tastebuds wtih a sourdough twangyness.Finish ended abrubtly. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Somewhat transparent black pour. Frothy white head. Burnt malt, light chocolate and some piney hop aroma. Surprisingly creamy mouthfeel, rather pleasant medium body. Grainy, smokey roast malt flavors. Just slight lingering bitter at the finish. The frothyness is almost too much. Otherwise, this is a real nice brew and quite drinkable. If all dark rye beers are like this, I will seek them out.
