Commercial Description:
Midnight Project One - Sometime at midnight in a city nobody can agree on, the idea for Left hand and Terrapin to brew a collaboration beer together was born. Terra-rye’zd is the first of a series of one-time releases between the two breweries. It is a beguiling black rye lager that will hold you hostage with its complex flavor, and make you want to ransom off your neighbors’ children for another bottle. The spice derived from the judicious amount of rye malt will bombard your pallet

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, and malt as well as light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, nuts, toffee, bread, and brown sugar, as well as a bit of alcohol, leading to a dry bready finish. The mouthfeel is quite carbonated.

Bottle. Fruity aroma. Clear dark brown colour, red shine. Small creamy tan head. Good roasted flavour, mild and creamy. It turns more hard roasted in the finish. Very creamy mouthfeel, must have lots of oats, or perhaps rye judgning from the name.

Appearance: black, dense tan head, thick drippy lace
Aroma: light roasted aroma, light earthyness
Flavor: big roasted malt flavor, touch of coffee from the roasted, lots of earthy character leaving behind bitterness, growing hint of caramel sweetness adds some balance to the roasted and earthyness, eventually the caramel sweetness grows until it takes over and provides perfect balance to the roasted

We get Left Hand and Terrapin beers in Miami but couldn’t get this one...go figure. Hazy chestnut colour. Low carbonation and little if any head. Some chocolate and nuts. Lots of sweetness. Big, fairly soft body. Brown sugary sweetness. Chocolatey, a little crackery and dry. Rye is evident in the mouthfeel.
