| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2008 22 ounces poured slightly hazy apricot color with fluffy egg shell colored head which stood about 3 minutes. It’s got a spicy, piney hop aroma, with bright citrus high notes and musty low notes, with some alcohol. The flavor is surprisingly sweet, sugars down the middle, with acidic bitterness surrounding. Medium bodied, considering. It’s good, but seems to lack a certain depth. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 5, 2008 22oz bottle, 2008 batch. Says it’s bottle conditioned but I see no evidence of that. Clear honey orange colored body with a nearly white head. Nose is heavy with corn syrup and fusel alcohol, some wet bread and wet hop cone notes as well, mostly coming across as honey/mead. Body is medium thick, syrupy, unnecessarily heavy... mostly syrupy, sticky corn and honey flavored malt up front, some fuel and shrimp/fish over the middle, tastes like scallops seared in corn syrup, what the hell? Not as terrible as all that seems, but I admit after about half the bottle I’m ready to give up. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2008 Burned by another super expensive Left Hand special edition brew, I should have learned my lesson by now. The body was dark gold with an off white head. The aroma was peanuts with some grapefruit notes. There was also some saw dust. The taste was grapefruit with some light leather. There was a woody dry finish. Not bad, but lame, bland and boring. notalush (2683), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 29, 2008 Bomber, marked as bottled in 2008 - pours a pretty clear golden for something that states that it is bottle conditioned, but whatever - pretty much zero head on this one - fairly apparent alcohol in the aroma, with potent hops, pine, and a strong citrus tang - the alcohol occasionally pushes the aroma into "pine-scented furniture cleaner" territory, though - the flavor is very sweet up front, with a lot of tropical fruit character - the hops seem kind of weak in the flavor, but they make their presence known by way of a sharp, astringent bite at the end, that lingers for a while, and mixes with the alcohol to create an abrasive overall experience - every once in a while, Left Hand makes a mighty fine brew - this is not one of them. puggy211 (591), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2008 Bright orange copper color with a taller heavy cream colored head. Heavy lace line the glass. Aromas of caramel malt and a slightly over-ripe grapefruit. Some ripe apricots and hint of resin as well (6+). Just seems "weathered". Flavors of heavy caramel with a light pine bite. Simple heavy hopped amber in my book. No depth or real hops indulgence. No hops blast, no malt depth, a strong amber is not anything I really need. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA

Pours a clear golden orange with a thin off-white skin. The aroma is fruity and nutty with a caramel malt backing. Medium-bodied and slick with a dry, bitter finish. The flavor follows the nose. This is not a bad beer, but at $13 a bottle, there are a LOT of better options out there if you’re craving an IIPA. Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Aug 25, 2008 Fresh, new bomber! It’s a yellow/orange colored beer. Thin layered head that quickly disappears and leaves a ring around the glass. Nose disappoints and doesn’t deliver any bright hop aromas. Hops are present, but in light volumes, showing only light traces of tropical fruit, herbs and peach, perhaps a little caramel and cookie. Flavor is on the lighter side of the style, in both hop bitterness and hop flavor. Has malt complexity of caramel and dough, with a nice honey-like sweetness. But...there isn’t a lot of hop character and what is there is pure bitterness. It’s a pretty good beer, but for the style, it misses the mark. I usually don’t mention price, but for $ 9.00 a bomber, Left Hand needs to realizes who they are competing with in Colorado (Hopsickle, Pliny, Ruination, Moylander...all cheaper and better examples.) Thing is, it has great potential it seems, but they really need to reconsider the hop schedule.
