Thin layered head that quickly disappears and leaves a ring around the glass. Nose disappoints and doesn’t deliver any bright hop aromas. Hops are present, but in light volumes, showing only light traces of tropical fruit, herbs and peach, perhaps a little caramel and cookie. Flavor is on the lighter side of the style, in both hop bitterness and hop flavor. Has malt complexity of caramel and dough, with a nice honey-like sweetness. But...there isn’t a lot of hop character and what is there is pure bitterness. It’s a pretty good beer, but for the style, it misses the mark. I usually don’t mention price, but for $ 9.00 a bomber, Left Hand needs to realizes who they are competing with in Colorado (Hopsickle, Pliny, Ruination, Moylander...all cheaper and better examples.) Thing is, it has great potential it seems, but they really need to reconsider the hop schedule. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Bottled. Pours a beautiful deep orange that is solid in color. Aroma is grapefruit and floral hops initially and then that changes to a thick alcoholic malt with bread and earth notes. Some hops and soil are present in the finish of the aroma. Flavor is a sweet sticky bread with a thick syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is bitter, alcoholic, and syrupy. The wet bread flavor is present in the finish. tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Pour is a orange with a large white head. Aroma has its hoppyness but nothing to the extreme like some of its counterparts. Flavour is also decently hopped but nothing jaw dropping. Finish is thick with some bitterness. I was expecting a hop bomb but this more like a hop firecracker. Decent but not great and really expensive at almost $13 a bottle! Trooper11 (467), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 15, 2008 2006 bottle conditioned. Strong caramel malt dominates the aroma. Sweet and inviting. Cloudy copper brew. heavy body, powerful alcohol presence in the flavor followed by good warmth. Big bitter dry aftertaste. drfabulous (1275), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Good and malty. A heavy beer. Much like HeBrew’s Lenny R.I.P.A. It may not amaze you , but it’s solid all around. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Bright amber-gold, muddy because bottle was on side before opening. Sweet aromas of baklava, almond liqueur, and hits some barleywine notes. Fuzzy but soft mouthfeel. Biscuits. Hop comes through in throat more than tongue. Not bad but not knocking any socks off either.
