Golden amber color with foamy white head. Aroma of hops, pine, and hints of citrus. Smooth and decently hoppy and slightly spicy. Was great for an ipa but not for a double.

From a caged corked 750 ml. bottle, bottled in 2006, with a humorous(?) blurb on the back of bottle, sampled after a few hours in the refrigerator in a tulip glass. Poured a golden amberish orange with a nice foamy, bubbly topped off-white head, good retention, minimal amount of laced sticking. Aromas of grapefruit rinds and pine oil, green pine needles as well, grainy caramel malts and light whiffs of solvent alcohol. Good, steady carbonation and a crisp, dry, slightly hop slick, smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Pleasant DIPA taste, the softly spicy, solvent alcohol slightly washes out some of the hop flavors, pine with watery oily flavor, citric rind, a little sweet hop sap, sugary, grainy malts with touches of caramel, the alcohol is sneaky because it only provides a mild, slow warmth in the palate, and a dryish, watery hop, grainy finish. For a DIPA, easy, if watery, drinkability, but for the price, not worth it.

750mL bottle shared wit MNovak. Clear amber color. Aroma of citrus hops, alcohol, and granola. flavors of hop very creamy texture, medium palate. But where’s the DoubleIPA, tastes like just IPA. improves as it warms

Pours a very nice clear reddish orange with a semi-thick stable white head. A very nice hop aroma, big, but not overly aggressive. Big cinnamon taste up front dominates the flavor, but diverts itself into hops in the finish. The alcohol is masked pretty well as it doesnt taste extremely big. I really like the taste in this one although it doesnt taste as big as a typical double IPA, I really enjoyed it.

A earth piney aroma. Cloudy gold. A huge head. Beer was not as hoppy as expected. It was more alcoholic and malty. Not my favorite IIPA. A good alcoholic presence. It was okay.

Pours bright gold into a shaker. Tight, off-white micro head with excellent retention leaves sheet lacing. Grapefruit and pine aromas. Upfront sweet caramel and a lasting bitter pine metallic finish.

Twin sisters pours an orangish copper color, with a lasting white head. I didn’t like the bits of yeast in this beer, but other than that I thought it was a good beer.

The Twin Sisters, pours initially cloudy light yellow settling into a medium/dark amber body. Large off white mostly lasting head with fair lacing, the sisters contained an inviting appearance. The nose detected a heavy presence of flowery hops with hints of malts and alcohol. It’s important to note the large amounts of yeast settling at the bottom of the glass. Initially moderately sweet taste contained hints of pineapple followed by a lighter bitter taste with a strong presence of alcohol. This is very similar in taste to a barley wine. Medium and oily in body, the Twin Sisters had a soft presence of carbonation. This is a complete beer. Ignace would greatly enjoy this selection and it could easily compete with the best of the best from Belgium. Reviewed on December 22nd, 2006 with Hops.
