Some spiciness in the taste. Finishes bittersweet. Overall a decent IPA but not my favorite. mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2008 A big ballsy IPA at first taste. Big peppery hops all over. Lots and lots of grassy bitterness. There is a bog malty caramel backbone there too. The major major flaw, though, it that all the flavor just washes out halfway through the swallow. This somehow suggests a juicy, watery freshness. While the flavor disappears, the bitterness hangs around the whole time, lingering all over the mouth. Feels extremely wet in the mouth. Tasty, but fatally flawed.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Lef t Hand has a done a good job with this one. Looks like honey in the glass, sort of hazy and a nice amber. Subdued smell of piney hops. Good job of balancing malts/hops in this. A bit bitter on the finish which is nice as well. Good drinkability on this with the 6.8 too. I will get this one again. thornecb (1779), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Pours amber into a tulip. Fluffy off-white head with good retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Pine and grapefruit aromas. Crisp with sticky resin up-front and a lasting grapefruit hop finish. Gets all the flavors of an imperial without getting too sweet or the abv. Nice. a10555 (125), West Chester, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2007 A nice beer. Poured a copper color and nice tan head. Good smooth start, with a hoppy finish. Settles nicely and the flavor gets really unique from most IPA’s. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Dark copper body with a khaki head. The aroma was strong with the fresh hops, but it dissapated quickly in it’s intensity. There was some almonds and grapefruit once the direct fresh hops toned down. The taste was lots of caramel with some grapefruit rind. There was also some bread crust. A nice chewy body to this one. Good, but nothing too exciting. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2007 This is a good beer overall. You can definitely taste the freshness of the hops. I’m not a huge IPA fan but the aroma of this beer is of fresh citrus with a slight hint of pine. The aroma fills your mouth and finishes bitter. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Tap at the Happy Gnome. Golden orange pour with a thin ink of white film. Firm vegetal aroma of steamed artichokes, celery, salted butter and rosemary crackers; lots of dank, resinous leafiness and damp, dark cave. Mango, caramelized sugar and pineapple sweetness in the flavor sing over the top of pungent garlic and spicy, juicy bell peppers. Solid, refreshing, and lively; the wet character is forward, floral and satisfying. Smooth, forceful pine oil bitterness subdues itself on the palate, which tends more to highlight the bitter citrus juices and pure, moist morning grassiness of fresh hops. Wicking bitterness and orange acid in a lengthy finish. An amiable, well-tempered rendition; pleasing and relaxed.
