Commercial Description:
This English-style Barleywine is fermented and aged for ten months and dry hopped for two months prior to packaging to give it a smooth mouth feel rarely found in the bitter American barleywines. Its copper color is the result of twelve house of boiling to caramelize the sugars and we also add five varieties of hops during an additional two hour boil. As you can see and taste, we brew this beer with the highest level of quality in mind. Please enjoy this warming barleywine with its warming flavors and hint of peat very responsibly. Malts: Pale, Crystal, Peated. Hops: Magnum, Centennial, Northern Brewer, Cascade, Tettnanger, East Kent Goldings, Fuggles. 70 IBUs.

I usually hate barley wines and rate them accordin gto ho well they fit that style. This however, was the first barley wine I really liked. Sweet with some citrus, maybe orange, more of a hops finish which surprised me. very fizzy with a medium body. not bad!

Thanks to Wohlfs for the tasting. Pours amber with film for a head. Aroma is malty roasted caramel. Flavor almost non-existant with a light bitter hops finish. Not the greatest barley-wine.

Dark murky amber, fizzy off white head. A very English style BW nose of caramel, brown sugar, and various citrus fruits. Flavor was similar with additional complex notes of toasted toffee, orange zest, juniper, with a slight hint of tobacco on the back end. Medium to full bodied, fizzy carbonation, warming dry finish. If you can find it, certainly worth a try.....

22 oz bottle from Joe @ Spuyten. Cool wax sealed top a la Makers Mark. This stuff is tan with a small head and sweet malt & maple aroma. Taste is nicely hopped for a barleywine with some flavors of tobacco, pear, tangerine and pine. Nice warming effect. Sweet, full bodied finish.

Bottle: Nice caramel and banana bread aromas with light alcohol. Pours a transparent bright orange with an insignificant white head. Flavors are real light. Light caramel, banana bread, citrus and a decent hop finish. Rather bland for a barley wine. Aromas boosts the score.

Bottle. Decent barlywine but not outstanding. Aroma and appearance are well done while the flavor and palate lag behind. Very nice amber colored beer with some cloudiness. Just lacks in complexity of flavor and palate.
