Commercial Description:
The Bruin Ale is our version of a classic Dark Farmhouse Flemish Ale. The appearance is a hazy dark brown with a nice creamy head. The initial smell of nuts and toffee fades into a fruity aroma from the Belgian ale - a Saison yeast blend. The phenolic, spicy, earthy, and clove-like flavors blend nicely with the dark caramel malts for a smooth flavor and dry finish.

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of malts, light yeast, slight cocoa, and slight dark ripe fruits. Poured brown in color with a small, off-white head that lasted around the edges. Hazy. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of cocoa, malts, yeast, and chocolate. Medium body. Dry, tingly texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, cocoa and malt finish.

Poured a hazy, brown amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, cocoa, floral, citrus, coriander, clove, honey, and banana. Taste of the same spices, coriander, clove, sweet honey, citrus fruits, vanilla, and a dry, yeasty finish.

Sampled on draft at Zenos in State College PA this beer poured a very dark brown color with a medium sized dark cream colored head. The aroma was sweet, roasty, fruity and complex although a bit faint. The flavor was a very complex mix of drt, bitter, tangy and roasty malts with noted of coffee and dark chocolate. The finish was long, tart, bitter, fruity and roasty. Very interesting.
