blipp (1631), Newark, New Jersey, USA Nov 8, 2009 Bottle. Golden amber with a off white head. Resinous hoppy aroma with some caramel and citric sweetness. The flavor has piny/citric hops, some lightly sweet malt, a light hint of alcohol, and a cedar/woody hint. Pretty good. corby112 (671), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2009 Pours a coppery dark amber color with golden burnt orange hues when held to a light source and a .5 finger fizzy white head that immediately fades into a lasting ring that leaves sporadic patches of lacing.
Very fresh dank floral resinous hop aroma. Nice citrus presence, mostly orange peel and grapefruit along with some earthy dry pine. Subtle alcohol presence as well as a nice graham cracker/biscuit malt backbone.
Very bitter dry chewy resinous medium body. Nice dry piny hop blast up front with some awesome sweet citrus hop notes; grapefruit and lemon peel. Slight alcohol warmth mid swallow and graham crackery, biscuit and caramel malt backbone provide a nice sweet balance without taking away from the wonderful dry bitter hop flavor. The alcohol is evident but overall the 9% ABV is well masked. This and the nice balance of sweet malt and bitter earthy hops make Hoptimus Prime very drinkable. Recommended. TampaBrew (746), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Hopshunter. Poured deep yellow. Nose was pine, citrus and malt. Flavor was a sort of empty malt character with weak notes of pine and grapefruit. Great name for a beer though. patrickfannon (273), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 18, 2009 Bottle. 25.4 oz. Pours hazy orange with a tall, slightly off-white head. Strong aroma of hops, citrus, grapes, apples, and hay. Medium to full bodied with a strong, tart finish. Very good IPA. NomDeBeer (398), Maryland, USA Oct 17, 2009 Pours a dark amber with a creamy head. Taste is caramel covered apples and citrus hops. Alcohol is undetectable. Smooth mothfeel, good body. Drinkable but nothing spectacular really. hellomisterp (32), Pennsylvania, USA Oct 15, 2009 22oz bottle. Beautiful copper color with a caramel nose with floral notes. A well carbonated double with the hops coming right from the start. The taste quickly takes a left and is taken over by smooth malts. This is not as hoppy as i initially expected. The alcohol is hidden very well and only appears at the end. Final notes: Easy drinking, but not worthy of the big hop name. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 1, 2009 Septemberfest. Sample from a bottle thanks to decaturstevo. Clear orange with an off white foam. Aroma is oranges, citric hops, some light pine. Taste is the same hop character, oranges, citrus, lightly herbal pine hops and some caramel body. Nice. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Sep 27, 2009 Bomber. Pours hazy golden orange, off white head. Aroma is funky, musty, and tangy, like a saison or gueuze. Flavor is hoppy bitter, leafy, dry, crisp, malty. Not syrupy at all. Definitely a unique Imp IPA.
