Lots of citrus, grapefruit, just a touch of toffee, (and maybe a light hint of cat.) Medium body and carbonation. Nicely sweet citrus and toffee taste without getting syrupy. Grapefruit pith, spice and earth finish. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2008 Pours golden / amber with an off-white head. The aroma is quite hoppy with citrus, pine and tropical fruit traits along with some toasted malt underneath. Medium prickly body with some resin and mild carbontion. The flavor starts with dry grapefruit, pine and earthy hops ~ the earthiness almost has to be Chinook. There is some toasty malt underneath. The finish has lots of earthy hops, a bit of spice and some dirtiness to it. While not a at the top of the heap, this is an enjoyable IIPA that is well worth the reasonable price tag. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 6, 2008 Updated: Oct 7, 2008On tap, it is a fresh, hoppy brew, stuffed with West Coast hops. Dark tan pour. The 9.1 ABV is not really noticable. The flavor is pretty bitter, dry, and grapefruity - a little irritating, in my opinion, but not bad. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Deep hazy amber coloured body with an orange glow and a thin off-white head. Aroma of fresh hops, grapefruit, oranges, grass, alcohol and a nice bit of raisins. Full-bodied; Strong assertive hopiness with a lot of malt and alcohol following soon behind. Sweetness finishes up the beer with a little bitterness, but mostly a short hoppy flavour with malt. Overall, a good beer, but not an amazing Double IPA. Still good to try if you like the style and perhaps too much malt and sweetness if you don’t like the style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Clarendon (Arlington), Virginia on 16-September-2008, sampled on 04-October-2008. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2008 22oz from The Wine Specialist, D.C. Nice crisp pour, pale cloudy orange with a lively carbonation and minimal head/lacing. Strong bitter notes in the nose, just a hint of citrus, a bit more pine. Resiny and a bit indistinct. The flavor is dominantly grassy, obscuring some of the floral, fruity notes. It’s solid, enjoyable even. But I’m not sure if it’s worth too many return visits, given how many killer IIPAs are out there. dkachur (2432), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a clear orange-amber with a medium head. Decent retention and lacing. Aroma is citrus and floral hops with a sweetness in the background. The taste is hop forward, with only a mild malt backbone, but one that is sweet and sufficient. The hop profile is very complex, ranging from pine to resin to citrus to pine and back to citrus. Medium body. Alcohol is well hidden. Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 29, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A solid double IPA fresh from NYC’s Ginger Man’s draught lines
I like:
Lasting lacy film covers an unfiltered orange. Alcohol warms everything up without obstructing. No overbearing malty sweetness, just pleasant biscuity undertones. Medium-full bodied with creamy, uniform carbonation.
I dislike:
Not particularly aromatic, although the hop bite if firm and focused. Does not taste all that fresh despite being on draught. Simplistic orangey hop profile.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Pours a clear amber in color with a huge pillowy white head. Smell is glorious hops. Taste is more of the hops, but in a manner that I like. Very resinous, grapefruit and juicy hops. I love that oily hop taste. Plenty of bite to go along with the flavor. With a name like Hoptimus Prime the beer better bring it, and this one did suffice.
