The pour was amber orange in color, ok initial head, but it thinned quickly to a very thin ring, disappointing for the style. The aroma was bitter citrus rinds, grapefruits. The flavor was same with some teabags. A remarkable orange-rindy bitterness characterized this for sure. The mouthfeel was a little on the thin side for the style, quite bitter all the way down. Pours a clear dark amber with a rocky 2 finger beige head and nice lacing. Nose is caramel malt, light citrus and some pine. Taste a juicy fruit upfront with mellow bitter grapefruit finish. Sticky. medium mouth feel. Not a bad DIPA and bonus points for the name. IThanks Margaret. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2008 Grapefruit. Smells like grapefruit. Tastes like grapefruit...or should I say more like the rind of a grapefruit. Not an overly rich mouthfeel, maybe a tad on the thin side. Really bitter. Like maybe a notch below Hopsickle, but hard to think of another beer more bitter than this. Enjoyable, if maybe a little over done. durhambeer (1220), Durham, USA

Some citrus/grapefruit in this one, but the resiny pine/spruce of the hops is what really dominates, though not in a bad way. A bit of graininess. Sticky mouthfeel. Somehow didn’t notice that it was 9%. No wonder I felt so good afterwards. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Draught. Aroma is resiny pine, some citrus, lightly sweet. Taste is very up front with the hops - resiny pine starts early and stays for the long haul, with a light malt sweetness sitting underneath the prickly hops for the duration. Caramel malts are rich and sweet without ever really emerging from the hop base. Mouthfeel is a bit slick, very lightly syrupy, not quite as heavy as expected. Nice beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2008 Nice solid 1+ inch head of fine bubbles. Dense and creamy on top. Great citrusy hops aroma with some oranges and grapefruit. Some caramel malts also. Color is a clear golden orange. Body is a little bit thinner than I expected. Light malts, loads of citrusy hops bitterness and some dry peanut skins. Slight honey sweetness and only a light alcohol presence. Alcohol is hidden pretty well for a 9% brew. Finishes warm and bitter with lots of lingering hops. A pretty good IIPA. Could use a little bit more malts in the body to balance things out a bit.
