Odeed (1473), Bakersfield, California, USA May 23, 2008 (bottle from iowaherkeye)nice translucent orange with a white head.aroma and flavor are of crisp bitter pine type hops.smooth/clean mouthfeel but kinda light in the hop department for a double ipa.
dmac (833), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2008 22oz bomber purchased at EZ Liquors drank out of a New Belgium glass at Jeff’s beach house. Aroma was pleasant enough with lots of fresh citrusy hops up front, slight caramel malt background and some detectable alcohol notes in the mix. The flavor isn’t quite as good as the aroma and needed more flavor/balance. Plenty of bitternress from the hops in the flavor and the palate but there was a wierd vegtable taste right in the middle of the taste. Not the best IIPA but still a solid beer. stefanje (540), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Aug 17, 2008 650 ml bottle from coldbrewky. Pours a rich copper color with a big white clumpy head that has good retention. Aroma is loaded with biter hops, pine and a bit of tropical citrus. The flavor is simple and un-complex with lots of biter hops and pine. The mouthfeel is full and malty, The finish is long and biter. Overall: A fairly good IPA, very tasty, many thanks steve. BREWMUSKCLES (751), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Aug 15, 2008 sturdy in flavor and character. perhaps overdone in alcohol. spicy and peppery with adequate notes of hops (mainly grapefruit) and an overbalanced, abundant malt character that pairs with the alcohol burn. a bit of tropical fruit in the midpalate of this slick feeling brew. slightly fragrant and on par with other good doubles. only mildly demonstrative. ElGaucho56 (369), USA Aug 9, 2008 Draft at Publick House, Brookline. Pours a lighter orange with decent cap and some detailed lacing. Nose is all pineapple and orange, very musky and mouthwatering. Sticky, intense, citrusy, bursting with flavor and resins, some bready malts down there somewhere. Not for the faint of palate, but quite enjoyable. EithCubes (1797), Indiana, USA Aug 9, 2008 My 75th rating from Pennsy, a bomber from my hometown store across the way. Massive, massive, massive pine and pineapple nose, with lesser apricot, peach, grapefruit, light resin. Pale orange pour with a lacing, creamy yellow-tinged beige head. Brutally bitter (but delicious!) taste, bone-dry with a leafy sort of bread and a dark, chewy earthiness. Some muskmelon. Full malty body, a touch of sweetness suggested in the aftertaste, or perhaps my buds have become accustomed to the attack. Dirty, rough, but enjoyable - hugely hoppy, but if only some of the fruity aromatic notes could have made it into the liquid.
