xnoxhatex (746), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 7, 2008 Thanks to Drewbeerme for popping this wonderfully named 22oz beer. Clear light orange-amber with medium tan head. An American hopped nose of citrus and grapefruit with medium sweet caramel. Very much a hop bomb in the flavor as well though the medium sweet caramel malt does creep through with an overabundance of bitterness. Medium-full creamy body. A pretty great IIPA with all those beautiful tropical and citrus hops that I have grown to love with the Americans but the bitterness overwhelms the malt to the determint of the balance.
GAManiac (166), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 30, 2008 Pours a clear deep amber with a dense one-finger head that shows very good retention and leaves only a hint of delicate lacing. Aroma starts with a big pine hop presence which gives way to a generous biscuity malt backbone and a citrus hop smell with grapefruit and oranges. The taste matches the smell with a bitter pine resin taste up front followed by the bready malt sweetness. The hop bitterness comes back in full force in the finish and lingers between sips. The mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation and a crisp yet bitter finish. This is a good DIPA, but the drinkability is limited by the bitterness. cbeers21 (341), Miami, Florida, USA Jun 26, 2008 Great name. Nice copper pour with foamy head, which quickly fades. Based on what the style or the name sugguests, not as hoppy as I would have thought. Decent piney citrus flavors with sweetish maltiness pervading. I was expecting a stronger hops presence.
NOTE: I tasted this after a series of SERIOUSLY hoppy brews so possibly my palate had been rendered ineffective, despite my best attempts to cleanse it. Will rate this brew again later, although I did enjoy this tasty brew... Tweety (150), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 25, 2008 ACBF 2008. The hops in this one are just a little too raw for my tastes, but the true hopheads probably love it. Pastor (215), Maine, USA Jun 22, 2008 22 oz Bottle poured in to my pint glass produced a large of white head that went to good layer of lace. The body was a amberish red in color
Tons of pine and citrus aromas from the hops a real good nose on this one
The flavor on this one is hop forward. Big citrus fruit and pine flavors. A nice sweet malt presence to keeps this brew drinkable. With a nice crisp carbonation and a medium body
A good brew had it with a bunch of hot wing and it made the meal. I would drink it again if the opportunity arises
LilBeerDoctor (235), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Growler. Pours orange, clear, with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus and piney hops. Flavor is of sweet malt with a bitter hops finish. Palate is medium-heavy, but for 9.1%, it’s pretty light. Mellows a bit as you drink. Quite tasty!
