TheRealBastard (94), New Jersey, USA Aug 26, 2008 Yay! another boring DIPA! Golden yellow pour with TONS white head. Smelled like pine and citrus. Taste was all hops and pine. Very dry palate, not my style. Not very good honestly. jjpm74 (2899), Connecticut, USA Aug 22, 2008 One of the more fun IIPA labels I’ve seen if nothing else. Opens up as a gusher. Buyer beware! Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of citrus, spice, pepper, earthy. Tastes lightly bitter and citrussy with a toasty malt backbone. Decent. Underhook (96), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Aug 22, 2008 Great hoppy scent, pours nice and golden with a large head that is especially doughy after settling. Strong hop flavor that’s hampered by a bit of a watery texture. Really hoppy, but only hoppy. A lot of piney, grassy feeling. A little bit plain compared to other imperial IPAs such as Dogfish Head. This beer seems to rely on hops, whereas the DFH brew has plenty of complex, light fruits to balance out the hops. A bit of a letdown but still a must try for hopheads. Fruitfly (40), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 S Philly Taproom. A slightly off white cotton like head on a hazed golden yellow pool of hoppy redolence. The sweetness is less than expected from an IIPA. Highly pined. The bitter finish is long and dry. Look forward to trying again. dmac (842), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2008 22oz bomber purchased at EZ Liquors drank out of a New Belgium glass at Jeff’s beach house. Aroma was pleasant enough with lots of fresh citrusy hops up front, slight caramel malt background and some detectable alcohol notes in the mix. The flavor isn’t quite as good as the aroma and needed more flavor/balance. Plenty of bitternress from the hops in the flavor and the palate but there was a wierd vegtable taste right in the middle of the taste. Not the best IIPA but still a solid beer.
