Commercial Description:
Midnight Wit is a Belgian-style white ale with a medium body and spicy, citrus overtones. The texture is silky, creamy, and refreshingly delightful. Brewed with European Pilsner malt, unmalted wheat, a blend of 5 different spices and then fermented with a classic Belgian yeast strain. Our Brewmaster learned the art of brewing tantalizing and award-winning white beers during his time in Belgium and this beer shows it.

A light translucent blonde with a with a very thin white head. Aroma of lemon and cloves, rather light. In mouth, a rather light and refreshing wit with lots of lemon, corinader, cloves, and a light sweet candy finish. Rather light bodied, but sustained spices remain. Bottle from Party Source, Syracuse.

Bottle (12oz). Pale gold, pale watery gold, smallish head, a few randomly spaced small bubbles. Sweet slightly papery malt backbone, light coriander, a fair bit of grassy hops. Taste has light fruit, grassy hops, but a nice infusion of citrus, decently sour in the finish. Average body for a wit (meaning watery), only mildly carbonated, a little sour, quick finish - not bad, but I’m a little underwhelmed after all is said and done.

A worthwhile take on the Belgian wheat style, with some sourish wheat and a blend of spices, corriander being the noteable one. Aroma is farmhouse and cidery. on the thin side. Deep yellow colour with a small but observable white head.

Bottle: Poured very light in color, bright golden, even. Not until the bottom of the bottle is out do you get a bit of yeasty swirl. The head is initially fizzy, but generally thin and uninspiring. The aroma is yeasty and fruity, swirly even. This settles into a musty swilly looking thing. This drinks like an American wheat, gristy, yet fruity. Definitely sedimented. If you like your beers with residual yeasty stuff, go for it. (#3434 (cool number), 4/24/2008)

[Draft @ Capone’s] Poured a cloudy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of grains, citrus, orange peel, and coriander. Taste of pils malt, cereal, wheat, toffee, citrus, and light orange peel.

Notes from ABC fest 06. Pours a nice hazy yellow with a thin but lasting white head. Aroma is lemony, citrus, wheaty, powerful phenolics and spice- light white pepper as well. Orange peel and citrus in the flavor with wheat, phenolics and lightly fruity esters- some pepper and hop bitterness on the tongue at the end blending with a slight tartness. Body is a bit weak though and not as full or smooth as I had hoped.

Bottle. Pours a hazy bubbly dark yellow with a small lasting white head. Nice and spicy aroma along with Belgian yeast, citrus and sweet malt. Flavour of Belgian yeast, spices and citrus. Light bodied but alright for the style. Pretty good, I enjoyed it.

06 State College Brew Expo. Pours a hazy yelllow with an average foamy white head that sustained. Aroma had a lot of banana, lemon, wheat and Belgian spices. Flavor was more of the same with some corriander and more of a malt sweetness almost. Very nice Witbier.
