Commercial Description:
Midnight Wit is a Belgian-style white ale with a medium body and spicy, citrus overtones. The texture is silky, creamy, and refreshingly delightful. Brewed with European Pilsner malt, unmalted wheat, a blend of 5 different spices and then fermented with a classic Belgian yeast strain. Our Brewmaster learned the art of brewing tantalizing and award-winning white beers during his time in Belgium and this beer shows it.

Bottle. Color was light gold, some cloudiness. Very visible carbonation streams. Aroma of yeast, bubblegum and spice. Easy drinking and smooth, but still tasty. Flavor much like the aroma. Average for me, but still enjoyable.

7/03/2007: Legacy Midnight Wit pours a cloudy yellowish white color with a frothy white head. There is an adequate level of visible carbonation. The aroma contains orange, hints of corriander, and some yeasty wheat. The flavor is a bit different than the typical Belgian Wit. It is quite good and contains some fruity (lightly tropical) wheat malt, mild citrus (orange and lemon), delicate spice, and a slight, complementary sourness in the clean finish. The flavors are very well matched and balanced. The medium body is smooth on the palate and isn’t too carbonated. I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It varies a little from the typical Belgian-style Wit and is better than expected!

12 oz bottle (4.8% Alc by Volume; Bottled this month: AUG ’06?) from jimbowood as a bonus in a trade. Thanks Jimbo!

Cloudy, dark straw body with a fading, frothy white head. Aroma has a note of sulfur plus meaty and fruity elements, moderate clove, bubble gum, and citrus meringue qualities. Flavor is rich and bready for a witbier, almost like a yeast starter. Also has prominent citrus character and is modestly sweet with light phenols and a spicy, bitter orange finish. More fullness than expected on the palate. Not bad, but this one isn’t quite dialed in.

Bottle. Overly strong yeast component to the aroma, but with coriander and peel in expected amount. Sweet and relatively enticing. Yellow-golden pour with lots of carbonation and a rocky soapish white head. Crisp light body. A touch too firm on the coriander, and the malt is weak and slightly grainy, but the effort is not without positives.

Pale yellow color with a quickly diminishing white head. Nose of old orange juice and spices. Lots of orange juice, lemon zest, sweet tart candies, corriander spice, and almost lime. It borders on too sweet, but there is enough tangyness in here to keep it from going too far.

Bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy yellow body with a small white foam covering. Solid aroma- fruity cereal, some banana, pineapple, peaches, and cookie dough. This stuff is really watery, some muted spice is present but it’s really hidden behind the water... otherwise there is some mild fruit character, kind of a citrusy twang.

This pours with a large, long lasting frothy white head over a clear yellow body. Flowery clean lemon aroma. The palate is spritzy and delivers a good spicy lemon flavor. Well done witbier.
