argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Aug 28, 2008 (22oz bottle) Somewhat fluffy medium tan head atop brown-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, dark chocolate, roast, some chicory. Taste is medium sweet, roast/chicory, some chocolate. Some effervescence, light-medium body. hopdog (4552), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2007 On tap. I was debating about rating this as I was getting a ton of buttered popcorn, but I see someone had the problem as well. Aroma was dominated by the buttered popcorn. I was able to get some caramel and roast in the background. Tastes included the butter (but not as overpowering as the aroma), and roast, and chocolate. hopscotch (4460), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2006 Draft... Listed as Legacy Nor’easter Robust Oatmeal Stout... GBOA ’06... Pitch black ale with burnt orange around the edges when held up to light. Mid-sized, creamy, light brown head with excellent retention. Lots of coffee and chocolate with a little vanilla and smoke in the aroma. Very decently balanced, although it leans slightly onto the bitter and burnt side with dark chocolate and coffee grounds. Barely medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Tangy, burnt, bitter finish. acrdz (4285), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 13, 2007 Draft at Mad Mex in State College. Diacetyl bomb. Buttery spoiled nose containing a little raisen and wood notes (who knows if intentional). Flavor is more nutty, with dates and spoiled, buttery wet leaves. Some light wood or nut shell flavors in the finish. Quite a terrible beer, but let’s hope it’s not by design. DocLock (4085), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 16, 2007 Draft from DRE. Onyx colored, with aroma of roasty malt, chocoff, some molasses, and some lactosy oats. Tastes rich and roasty malty, with some sweety dark chocolate syrup, and molasses. Medium palate.
