Very nice, even when aged a bit. Sprung this one in August and enjoyed it. Malty and chocolate nose. Not as thick as you would expect, but enough alcohol, sweet malt notes to remind you that you are quaffing a stout.

Nov 15, 2009 Bottle. EXPLOSION! chocolate milk foam explodes and pours over the sides of the bottle. After pouring, reveals an almost opaque black color with a thick, foamy tan head. Nose is chocolate malt and lots of roast malt notes. Palate is overly carbonated, very foamy and expanding in the mouth. FLavor is nice with the roasted malts and chocolate notes mixing well. the overcarbonation kind of ruins the experience which seems to have been a solid offering.

Oct 9, 2009 Brewed in the USA... Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, wood, oats and milk chocolate. Taste of burnt malts, coffee grounds, chocolate and hops. The mouthfeel is kind of thin in body, bitter and the finish is pretty dry. Overall, not bad and worth a try !!!!

May 3, 2009 Bottle. Black beer with a tan head. Roasty aroma with coffee, light dark chocolate and light oatmeal. Roast and coffee flavor with astringent notes and pine hops backing. Medium-plus bodied. Roast and coffee lingers with light pine.

Apr 14, 2009 Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Tan head with excellent retention leaves slight sheets as it recedes to coat surface. Sweet and sour chocolate aromas. Thin, dry cocoad oatmeall upfront. Lasting mocha finish.

Apr 4, 2009 22 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours nearly pitch black with a medium brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is faint but has notes of chocolate, oatmeal. nuts, coffee and hops. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and very light infection notes... tartness and bandaid. Doesn’t detract from the beer too much but I’m glad I didn’t wait longer to crack this one.

Apr 1, 2009 22oz bomber. Thick black color, foamy tan head. Mild chocolate aroma. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, very nice chocolate tastes. Rich, roasty and quite fresh. Bitterness really starts to comes through after a few sips. The body is a little thin, maybe some open fermentation qualities. Chocolate and hops give it a pleasant sandy quality on the tongue, good stuff. Underrated thus far.

Mar 17, 2009 bottle poured dark brown with a huge glass filling head that retained a perfect coating very well. aroma has roasted coffee and rich chocolate blended in with some hops. mouth feel is medium heavy and this coats well. flavor has a nice richness from the oatmeal, coffee, bitter chocolate, and then some unexpected hops. the carbonation in this bottle is real high, perhaps it is the snifter I used.
