Pours deep mahogony brown with a fine thick tan head with excellent retention. Sweet sappy aroma of figs, dates and some warm gingerbready, biscuity notes. Balanced, but malt forward fruity flavor, with some some overaged briney character. Full-bodied, relatively highly carbonated and creamy smooth with just a touch of alcohol on the finish. This was an impressive barleywine; just unfortunately cellared a bit too long. HOPSHUNTER (382), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2009 reddish brown with mild white head. medium-low carbonation. sweet malty nose. flavor of crystal malt with mild hop bitterness, finishes overly sweet due to some unfermentable sugars that results in a cloying beer as drinking continues. the alcohol is well hidden and likely the most impressive aspect of this beer. not great
