Commercial Description:
We fermented the Single on the same Belgian Trappist yeast strain as the White Ale (also the same yeast our Tripel is brewed on ). The recipe includes 100% malted barley (no wheat malt), Czech Saaz hops, and a bit of bitter orange peel for balance and a subtle spiciness. The name “Single” denotes the strength of the brew. For example, while our Belgian “Tripel” comes in around 10% ABV, the Single is 4.5% ABV. Expect a clear, deep yellow brew with a bubblegum/fruit aroma. Flavors include fruit (apples, pears, citrus), as well as a faint graininess and a slight spice from the hops and orange peel. The flavor starts out dry, quickly turning sweet and fruity. The finish is tart and spicy. It is the perfect compliment to grilled meats and vegetables, as well as salads, sushi, etc.

Bomber from rudolf. Clear deeper golden color, white head. Sweetish aroma, some citrus, yeast, light pale malt. Similar flavor with some lighter bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied, pretty active mouthfeel. Not terribly exciting but pretty well made, lacking flaws.

Light clear copper, thinnish white head. Lemon, orange, light corrainder, yeast. Rather sweet - lemon, yeast, a little funk. Orange a hint of yeast in the finish. Candy and very light straw malt.

Clear golden with a medium white head. Bubblegum and banana in the nose. Flavor has notes of yeast, pear, clove, banana, bubblegum and lemon/citrus. Ends with a twinge of nutmeg-like spiciness. Overall taste is very light and drinkable. Medium light body with very lively, spritzy carbonation. Not my favorite Legend brew but pretty solid.

(22oz bottle) Medium white head that does not linger long, atop a crystal clear apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, bubblegum, some clove. Taste is moderately sweet, bubblegum, some apple, clove, light yeasty spice, orange peel. Low carbonation, light body. Pleasant summery beer.

How to rate a Belgian single? Not exactly a common style. Basically tasted like a Wit beer, which is not my favorite style of Belgian beer. However, it was well made and I can’t fault it too much for not being of a style I like. Spicy, somewhat fruity, and clean.

Brass color with a rather small head. Not a lot of lacing. Is there such a thing as wheat bubblegum? That is what the nose smelled like. Not much bubblegum in the taste, but detectable. This is kinda like you drank a belgian/hefeweizen right after you spit your gum out. Slightly fizzy palate, and the finish reminds me of a lighter Blue Moon White Ale. This review sounds a bit strange, but I actually liked this beer.
