Poured a golden sunset of a body and a billowing tour of white head. The aroma hangs with suggestions of banana, clove, pear, orange blossom honey, and bubblegum. The flavor encompasses every facet of the aroma with some citric orange peel and biscuity yeast … Finish is a silky dry finish finally. I very much enjoyed this beer. A combination Belgian / Hefeweizen / summer session beer……. I like! walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Draft, Baja Bean, Staunton VA. Very yellow color with white head. All I can really say about this one is bubblegum. Lots of bubblegum. Fresh, but bubblegum. Like a whole gumball machine got dumped into the wort. I suppose this is simply a very yeast-focused brew without the alcohol heft of doubles and triples to compensate; but what a bubblegummy yeast! Don’t know if I liked it or not, sort of off my radar. Really didn’t get the nose or flavors of citrus fruits and grains the commercial description implies. Just, ...ahem, bubblegum. TheBeerGod (3167), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Bottle. Translucent gold with a mall fluffy white head. Nose is spicy and yeasty with lots of bubblegum and fruity esters. Taste is good! Fruity with light caramel, yeast, spices and bubblegum. Almost hefe-like in aroma and taste with a Belgian ale mixed in. Body is light-medium with moderate carbonation. Finishes with Belgian yeastiness, ripe fruits, mellow hops, bubblegum, candyish notes and light spice. Nice beer! jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Pours amber with a largish white head and perpetual effervescence. Good lacing. Aroma is not promising--band-aids, plastic, and a hint of cloves. Tastes like my first batch of homebrew (supposedly a dubbel), only more watery (which is good because these particular flavors need to be spread as thin as possible). And that’s not good. This one is saved only by an immaculate appearance. Disappointing. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2005 Light fruity, lemon, yeast, and spice. A pretty good beer, not at the top of its class though. But, it is a good beer, and legend brewing continues to make nothing but solid beers. Kinz (2213), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2005 Finally found a good use for the Legend Belgian yeast, which I’ve never been a fan of (is it Westmalle? if it is, why doesn’t it come across that way?). In this case, however, the esters were quite nice. Pours a light amber with a thin head. Aroma was faintly fruity, touch of orange. Flavor was very light caramel, a bit of tropical fruit, and a touch of spice. Slightly acidic, but rather quenching. Not spectacular, but solid and fits the summer heat well.
