Commercial Description:
The is a pretty beer almost an amber/brown color. A well balanced beer that is great for the summer months. Unlike the porter, this is the beer that put them on the map.

If you’re in Richmond, stop by Legend Brewery and give this one a try. Significantly better on tap than in a bottle. A nice, brown color with a less than memorable head. Many flavors (overall roasty), but none of them are overpowering, leaving a deliciously drinkable brown. The only downside is that it doesn’t really stand out in the sea of brown ales.

22 oz bottle poured medium brown with a slight tan head. Chocolate was the big aroma and flavor. Medium body and slightly sweet. A bit of peat in there too.

On tap @ the brewpub-Clear light brown color w/a slight tan head. Slight malt aroma. Some flavors of roasted malt & caramel, but not much. Pretty boring stuff, not bad, just boring. Typical of many Brown Ales; reminds me of why this isn’t usually one of my favorite styles.

Of taps at the brewery. Aroma of caramelized malts with a bit of roast. Clear amber brown with small white head. Flavor is nice balance of roast, some fruitiness, carmelized malts. Bittering is enough to balance the malts but there is little hop flavor. Medium body with fruity dry finish with just a touch of residual bitterness. Solid brown ale and very popular in the area.

12-oz. Thanks, Skoi! Light brown, headless. Brown sugar nose. Medium carb. Brown sugar, biscuit on the mid-palate. Clean and tidy, rather overly conventional brown ale.

Had on tap at The Fact Canary. Poured a clear mahogany with a some highlights and a fizzy white head. Aroma of buttery caramel and some toffee. Flavor is dry with some light notes of grassy hops, a bit of toffee, some slight return of the caramel but not much. Came off as somewhat bland without a lot of discernible flavor. While I could not detect outright flaws, just was not interesting enough to warrant a revisit.

Bomber courtesy of Mike Miller. Just chocolate/coffee aroma with just a hint of cinammon. Pours a dark brown with small amount of head and carbonation. Very sweet malt nut taste with some roasted coffee hints to back things up.

Draft. Light brown body with a slightly off-white head. Nose is mostly sweet malt, a bit of wood and nuts as well. Body is sweet malt, nuts, roasted malt and what I thought may have been a single hop on the finish. One of the more solid brews from Legend I have had. I still feel that they are pretty inconsistent overall or maybe I just always get old bottles.
