| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 25, 2006 Draft... ODBF2006... Clear, amber ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Malty nose with some nice, light chocolate notes. The flavor is chocolatey as well. A tad on the sweet side of balance. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Finishes chocolatey and mildly bitter. Did I get around to saying anything about this brew being chocolatey at all? theacelatrain (262), Washington DC, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jun 19, 2006 Bottle. Pours murky dark, reddish brown with thick, lasting, off-white head. Aroma. Sweet baked bean-like aroma of brown sugar. Brown-sugary sweetness, with molasses and flavors and gooeyness and a slight burnt-caramel aftertaste. Very little hops, resulting in a lingering sticky sugariness. Malty flavors are tasty, but lacks any semblance of hops for balance. VAYankee (248), Virginia, USA

Caramel, roasted malt flavor, very faint nuttiness. Dry roasted aftertaste. Overall smooth and pleasing. outerupt (133), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 3, 2006 This is a real snoozer of a beer. Good for session time at the brewpub perhaps but really tends to fall flat in the bottle. The malt is a bit stale and muted with not nearly enough weight to carry the beer. Hops are variable here... sometimes nicely balanced, sometimes overkill. It’s generally a C student. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 29, 2006 Largish draught sample at the brewpub. Clear maple with a dollop of receding head....roasted and lightly sugared pecans and almonds in the nose, caramel brown sugar getting stronger with warms, just a bit of dry herbal sharpness....smooth, lightly toasted malts on the tongue, some hints of molasses but mostly quite dry....rather creamy, clean, light and easy drinking mouthfeel....no flaws here, reasonably well done, but fairly dull. michael-pollack (2720), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2006 Draught at Brewery: Smells of toffee, and malts. Sweet scent. Dark Amber/Brown color. Small white head. Decent lacing. Malty and sweet flavor. Tastes of chocolate, toffee, and molasses. Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. Decent brown ale, but does not stand out.
