I think my palate might have been a bit shot to be trying this one when I did, so i really couldnt discern the flavors. Pours a light, transparent brown. Yeast and a bit of floral hoppiness come through in the aroma. This was an easy drinking brew, but I also would like to try it again. Thanks Dan. heemer77 (4309), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The smell was earthy mushrooms and moss. There was also some sweet caramel. Interesting for a brown ale. The taste was caramel with some tart oranges. The body was very smooth. I would like to try a fresher sample. hershiser2 (914), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 16, 2005 Bottle (22 oz). Pours brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malts (caramel and nutty) and maybe a tiny bit of hoppiness. A nice, smooth nutty taste- not overpowering, but not weak. Immy (1911), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 22, 2005 22 oz bottle. Pours a pleasant, clear medium brown. Decent head with good lacing. Sweet, nutty nose, like pralines. Somewhat complex flavor, with malts, light brown sugar and a prevailing woody flavor.A slight hop bitter is noticed in the finish, but the maltiness overcomes it easily. Maybe not a great brown ale, but a good beer none the less. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA

Amber color, doesn’t look like a brown to me...maybe they tapped the wrong keg. Good beer but not a good representation of style. Fairly hoppy, too crisp. Not very malty or brown. Dissappointing. cvillebeer (134), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2005 Went down smooth and clean, with a malty, moderately full and dry finish. Just the thing after my walk around Richmond. Nothing to swoon over, but a well made ale. can8ianben (904), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2005 Nice, it has some overly hoppy tones that makes it much more interesting than a simple plain brown ale. It has a simple sweet yet bitter style that is very appealing. Good amber brown colour, little aroma present, but good overall.
