Poured a medium and hazy brownish color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of nuts, caramel, and some toasted malts. Tastes of stronger caramel, nuts, and some orange. Starts of sweet and ends in a light hop and almost tart finish. jcwattsrugger (5532), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Malty nose with some nice, light chocolate notes. The flavor is chocolatey as well. A tad on the sweet side of balance. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Finishes chocolatey and mildly bitter. Did I get around to saying anything about this brew being chocolatey at all? MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Diacetyl à gogo in the nose evaporates in the flavor profile, leaving room for the simple caramel malts and earthy hops to attempt balance. This basic Brown Ale may reach neophytes or those looking for a simple session ale, but it cannot compete with the style’s best examples, imho.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slim veil of foam sinks into the coppery brown.
-Leafy hop bitterness is decent, but not efficient.
-The body is slick and round, yet the residual sugars do not impart much flavor other than straightforward caramel.
-It remains rather sweet throughout, and therefore balanced is not reached.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2004 Rich copper colour. I picked up some diacetyl in the aroma, which was otherwise mainly malty. Dry malt in the flavour, with a touch of tangy hop. Soft, but clean, mouthfeel. Not bad. On tap at the Green Leafe Cafe, Williamsburg.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2004 Draft. Pours copper, with aroma of malt, toffee, brown sugar, hops, and cabernet. Tastes malty, rich, with some hops, brown sugar, and red wine at the finish. Nice balance and a great finish. I put this one up there with DFH Indian Brown Ale as great examples of the style.
