Commercial Description:
Due to explosive sales of this year’s Oktoberfest, we’ll be releasing Legend Chocolate Porter a little earlier than normal. We tweaked the recipe this year by adding some additional dark malts to the mash. A touch of natural cocoa extract is added to the finished beer for a rich, robust Porter with plenty of roasted, coffee, and of course, chocolate flavors. Always a favorite during the holiday season.

Poured a clear almost opaque brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was very chalky with dark cocoa notes and a mild tartness. Dark bitter chocolate and cocoa flavor. Medium bodied.

Bomber. Pours a nice deep chocolate brown almost black and a nice head. Aroma on tap is very nice and subtle smooth with nice floral hops and a nice straightforward chocolate goodness. Bottle seemed overly spicy fusel and harsh chile peppery and almost chipotle smokeyness- weird stuff. Flavor is nice bold smooth chocolate good hops and nice sweetness and smooth in the flavor but bottle is harsh, dried out, over carbonated and harsh. Always a pretty big difference in bottle and fresh draft for this brewery.

Very nice opaque black pour, with a deep brown head that diminishes quickly, leaving trace soap lace. Huge nose of milk chocolate and pure cocoa, with a hint of herbs and spices. The herbal vegetal notes come through a bit more in the flavors, sitting on top of cocoa notes, semi-sweet and mild milk chocolates. Some sourdough and bitter chocolates hit the finish. This seems a bit out of balance, honestly, but is a very nice offering, and is quite unique amongst a very broad genre. This has a lot of things going for it, but for once, a brew that indicates chocolate actually delivers on the promise.

Thanks to dickinsonbeer for sharing - turbid black pour - foamy lace - loads of cocoa in the aroma, with a soft herbal character - some root plant/vegetal quality in the nose as well - the flavor is quite the same, with the vegetal character really dominating, washing out the tastier chocolate notes - something is really off with this one, but you can tell there is a good beer in there somewhere.

Bottle shared by Dickinsonbeer. Pours opaque black with a brown head. The aroma is chocolate along with an odd medicinal smell. The medicinal quality present in the aroma is thankfully not a participant in the flavor, which is chocolate, coffee and lightly roasted malt. Dries out with some moderate bitterness at the finish.

Very deep dark beer. Rich aroma of soy, treacle and heavy cocoa with an earthy/dusty aroma. Meaty broth and rich sweet dusty character. Chewy and dusty. Smells and tastes like vegemite. Chalky and chewy and fairly leathery. Strange brew.
