Commercial Description:
Due to explosive sales of this year’s Oktoberfest, we’ll be releasing Legend Chocolate Porter a little earlier than normal. We tweaked the recipe this year by adding some additional dark malts to the mash. A touch of natural cocoa extract is added to the finished beer for a rich, robust Porter with plenty of roasted, coffee, and of course, chocolate flavors. Always a favorite during the holiday season.

Very deep dark beer. Rich aroma of soy, treacle and heavy cocoa with an earthy/dusty aroma. Meaty broth and rich sweet dusty character. Chewy and dusty. Smells and tastes like vegemite. Chalky and chewy and fairly leathery. Strange brew.

220z bomber. Opaque black color with a big, frothy head. Odd sour burnt coffee and chocolate aroma, a little off certainly. The taste is rich and full of cocoa, honestly quite similar to Nestle Quik. Some roasty coffee in there as well. There is a lot going on in this beer, and it comes off a little muddled. Very tasty and flavorful, but the off aroma takes it down a few points. Better on tap Im sure.

Thanks Jeremy for this. Poured a deep brown color with a creamy tan head. MIlk chocolate aroma with hints of coffee and I think caramel. Roasted malt in the flavor, as well as some cocoa, with some coffee and dark chocolate mixed in as well. Not bad. Actually, for a Porter, I liked it.

This one trumps the Southern Tier Choklat from a couple of months back as far as pure chocolate flavor goes. This reminds me of a melted truffle, creamy and bittersweet goodness. Bottle in VA over Thanksgiving break. Really enjoyed this since I’m such a chocaholic but as far as beer goes, this is not as intriguing as many other porters I’ve had recently.

Bomber. Poured a lovely shade of deep brown with a creamy initial cap of rich tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter, milky chocolates, coffee, and an odd dark fruity sourness.. t’was OK overall. The flavor thankfully didn’t take off with sourness, but it was prevalent throughout.. milk and darker chocolates gave a cake-like impression with light caramel and coffee accents.. the edges found toasted barley and more sweet chocolates.. finished sweet. Medium-bodied and slow across the palate with the unfortunate sourness in there.. grainy on the back with roast scorching the very end. This was OK, but I’d like to try a fresher bottle or find it on tap.

Deep fully opaque brown coloured body, loooking like mud with a thin brown head. Aroma of fudge, chocolate and more chocolate with some malt, and a bit of coffee. Medium-bodied; Strong flavour of roasted malt with a large cacao presence and a bit of a coffee twang near the end. Aftertaste shows the bitter chocolate, coffee and of course, roasted malt. Overall, not a bad beer - a bit heavy on the sweetness, but not a bad beer at all - good to try, especially around Christmas! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia all the way out in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 13-December-2005.
