Legend Chocolate Porter

Poured a very dark brown almost black color in the glass with a thin, but tall brown head. The head retenion was fairly weak. Not a huge porter fan, but this was quite nice. A chocolate presence, that wa screamy but not overwhelming. A bit thin, but I always think porters are.

Dark burgundy brown body with a thick, slow-fading tan head. Aroma of roasted nuts and cocoa. Lightly sweet, chocolatey flavor with a note of raisin and some grainy dark malt. Some firm, mildly roasty bitterness. The flavors fail to mesh in an organic way. Medium body, sort of falls flat on the tongue. An okay beer, but nothing special in my book.

Pitch black, thin tan creamy head. Really nice aromas on this one with hints of rich milk chocolate, buttered toast, kettle corn, mild coffee and hints of vanilla cream. Flavor was similar with not nearly the intensity though. Notes of toasty chocolate malt, buttermilk, touches of cafe mocha, and a light hop bitterness that keeps the sweetness well in check. Medium bodied, soft smooth carbonation, lightly bittersweet finish. Going against the grain here, but I really liked this brew. Nice job Legend. Now we can work on getting some distributorship in Maryland please?

Poured kind of thick with a foamy tan head, that did not last. Nose was sour burnt coffee. The taste is kind of cola like, but I appreciate them trying.

Black bodied porter, with a large head. Butter and chocolate flavors are dominate to the point of over powering. Aroma is of butterscotch. Fair, but not great.

Pours with a large brown head on a black body. Strong butterscotch and chocolate aroma. Chocolate bitter taste on a crisp body.

Thick frothy tan head on a dark black body. Butterscotch and chocolate aroma. Strong butterscotch flavor but not much chocolate to it.

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, fizzy, lightly tanned head. The aroma has a lot going on... butterscotch, toasted nuts, buttered toast (God, I love diacetyl), milk chocolate and dark roasted caramel malt. Well-balanced flavor with light bitterness and a whisper of cocoa. Doesn’t quite deliver on the nose’s promise. A little thin for the style. Medium-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes creamy and mildly sweet. Better than expected. Underrated! Thanks go out to growler for the bomber.
