jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jan 20, 2009 Hazy deep amber coloured body with strong ruby tints and a thin white head. Aroma of fresh hops, wheat, alcohol and a very bitter scent. Medium-bodied; Strong malty taste with metal and alcohol very noticeable. Aftertaste shows metal and wheat long after and the bitter flavours last quite a while. Overall, a powerful beer - some odd tastes, but not a bad first attempt. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 02-June-2005 at Jon(R888710)’s. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 05/31/2006

CaptainCougar (5374), Rockville, Maryland, USA Feb 2, 2007 Bottle sampled in May 2006 thanks to Numenor: Pours a clear dark mahogany brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of toasty dark wheat with a hint of roasted malt and some bready yeast. Body starts with a full malted wheaty palate with good bready yeasty notes and roasted dark malts. Nicely balanced and true to style. Cletus (4999), Connecticut, USA Dec 6, 2006 Bomber courtesy of the beer god. Pours reddish brwon with a tan head. Smells of fuit, caramel, dough, some sugar. Tastes fruity with a very nice full palate. As the beer warms, flavors of bananas start to come out. Slightly tarte on the finish. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Sep 12, 2006 Pours a deep amber with a thin lasting head. Aroma is clove-like phenols with some banana esters and a light caramel malt sweetness. Wheaty flavor, with some bready hints, light caramel, nutty and some chocolate with more phenolic yeasty hints. Body is a bit weak despite the 6% alcohol. Slight slick aftertaste. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jul 20, 2006 Aroma is identical to the hefeweizen except with the addition of caramel in the nose. In the flavor, the caramel morphs slightly into something vaguely resembling cocoa. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2006 Tap at the brewpub
Clouded blackish brown with a nice head. Smells like laffy taffy and caramellos with a touch of booze. Strong caramel roastiness with a pleasant banana background. Slightly oily finish that works well here. A touch of vanilla and booze evident here, this must be above 6%.

hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jun 4, 2006 Updated: Jun 5, 2006Bottle... Delicately hazy, very dark, ruby ale with a large, frothy, khaki head. Decent retention. Smokey, chocolatey nose. Beefy with a lesser note of Russian black bread. Chocolatey flavor with touches of banana and smoke. Mild bitterness. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Astringent, dry finish. Kudos to growler for sharing this gem!
