Commercial Description:
Legend Golden ale is an IPA that is deep golden in color and not hopped as heavily as some other interpretations. This Legend cult classic has a full body and is very high in alcohol, at over 7% by volume. It is hopped with Mt. Hood for balance.

Pours with a creamy medium white head on a golden body. Mild malty aroma with some hops filtering through. Strong allspice flavor initially. The hops kick in later. Good dry body with a decent amount of alcohol warming.

Pours with a orange-gold body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. Slightly sweet and malty with notes of tea and a touch of fruit. Light to medium bodied, slightly dry and smooth.

I thought this was an IPA... the label fooled me with the "Golden Ale" bit. Very hoppy, obviously. Orangish-golden color, plentiful head. Typical IPA aroma, characteristic taste. Nothing to write home about it, but a fairly good representative of its style.

Bottle… Hazy, yellow ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Great retention. Lots of tea and butterscotch in the aroma. The flavor has great balance. Malty, but moderately bitter with notes of grapefruit rind, black tea and a whisper of sea salt. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes bitter, grassy and dry. Thanks go out to growler for sharing!

22 oz bottle. Pours golden yellow, small head, light lacing. I smell pine and hops, covering malt. Flavor is OK, a bit light. Finish has the typical hops. An OK IPA, but nothing to write home about. At least it is mildly engaging.

Bottle at MilkmanDan’s tasting on 9/10/05. Saffron, allspice aroma with some hops. Some particalia evident in the gold body. Off-white head. Nice lace. Allspice flavor. Has some similarities to Mendocino’s Whitehawk IPA. Unique flavor. Good.

Some butter in the aroma as well as bitter herbal hops. Very light citrus and bitter hop flavors. Thick.

MilkmanDan’s MN Welcome Night: Cloudy yellow with no head. Buttery aroma, but it still smelled kind of like a wet barnyard. Oddly spicy taste with a muddled grain body. Good hop finish.
