At least Legend seems to be aesthetically-abled. A big aroma of soapy and citrusy hops backed by bready malts. Flavor starts out excellent—just the right malt backbone—but finishes with a horrible taste that left me feeling as though I had just eaten a handful of grass. The nastiness sticks with you for a while. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 2, 2005 As expected, a fairly clear, golden color out of the bottle. Grassy aroma, not so hoppy. Tastes of light malts and honey, with a salty aftertaste. The aftertaste is what lost the ratings. BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 2, 2005 22oz bottle: Clear pale yellow with a bit of an amber tint to it, but definitely closer to a pale lager than an amber. Pours with a small white head that quickly dies. I stick my nose in the glass (tulip) and get a subtle aroma of salty grass, a touch of sweet malt, earthy yeast, and a bit of grapefruit and apples when swirled and warmed. Taste is mild grapefruit and sweet malt up front, then works towards salty yeast, stale grass, a hint of alcohol midway through, pepper, and finishes with some light alcohol, retronasal bitter grassy/citrus hops and a hint of apples or pears. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation that does overwhelm but feels pretty agressive in the mouth. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA

Aroma is very mild; just a touch of sweet maltiness coming through. Flavor is fairly nice; some maltiness balanced by a decent amount of hops more on the level of an APA. The alcohol is high for such a mild beer. Not bad, but nothing makes it exceptional. hurleymanvw (101), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 17, 2005 Another golden color beer from legends with a decent head. Very citrus in smell with a very light hop bite. Not too bad and drinkable for an IPA but for an IPA lover it will disappoint. JFGrind (1353), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2005 Girlfriend brought back a 22 ounce bomber from Chesapeake. Golden appearance, thin head, adequate lacing. Citrus nose, however it was lighter hopped than an average IPA. Legend Golden IPA is on the dry side but drinkable. This IPA would compliment seafood meal, especially crabs. Foxbush (460), Richmond, Virginia, USA

The IPA poured wih a small head that disappeared. The color was a rich golden hue. This IPA is a well balanced pale ale with hints of grapefruit. This is not as strongly hopped as other IPAs. I find that this is a good IPA but not special.
